One of your first tasks in Link’s Awakening is to make your way through the Mysterious Forest. It’s pretty mysterious, but the real issue is a sneaky Raccoon who keeps blocking your progress. Every time you try and go north, this rapscallion will teleport you away.
Luckily, there is a way to deal with him.
Get The Toadstool
The first thing you need to do is get the Toadstool. The red X on the map above shows where the Raccoon teleports you too. If you follow the red line, it will bring you to the opening of a cave. Head inside, and when you get there don’t be too slow. The cracked floor will break away beneath you.
Remember, if you need to reset a room just exit it, then enter again.
In the next room, just push the two lower stones down, as shown in the screenshot above. Don’t worry about the Piece of Heart, you can’t get to it this early in the game. Now just head out and grab the toadstool, but be careful of the enemies.
Get Magic Powder
Now that you have the Toadstool, you can bring it to a nearby witch, but you need to get back through that room of rocks. Push them in the direction shown above, and you will be able to get out.
Now, follow the line shown above to get to the Witch. She will make you the potion you need from the Toadstool. After you have it, just return to the Raccoon and use the potion it, then head north to find a chest containing the item you need.
