If you want to get the Boomerang in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening on Switch, prepare to be in for the long haul.
Not only will you have needed to finish the long trade quest that will take you across the far reaches of the map, but you will also need the Magnifying Glass item to see the NPC that gives you the item. If you have done all this, then let's get started.
First, you will need to head South of Mabe Village and find a cracked wall near the ocean that you can bomb to reveal a cave. When you enter, so long as you have the Magnifying Glass, a large dog-like NPC will be revealed.
When you talk to the NPC, you will need to trade one of your items to get the Boomerang. It can't be any item, but perhaps use the Shovel as it has little use after a part of the game.
You'll be able to get back the item you trade for the Boomerang though, so don't worry. It'll cost you 300 Rupees, though. But hey, least you got the Boomerang now!
