Some Call of Duty players out there thrive on the ability to Quickscope with sniper rifles. It can be a tricky business, especially considering that the sniper rifle isn’t the greatest of close-range weapons. But, as several players have proven in the past, it can be done, and it’s pretty fun to execute kills with them.
However, now comes the real question at the moment -- can you quick scope in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare? Considering how many players enjoyed doing it in the past, it would only make sense to include the ability again, right? Well, good news, you can. And this guide will tell you how you can get the most out of it, provided that’s what you want to accomplish kills.
So let’s take a look at the steps for Quickscoping:
Make Sure You Have the Best Attachments
Now, when you use general aiming with the sniper rifle in Modern Warfare, you may realize that the ADS isn’t the friendliest in the world. It can take a little longer than usual to line up an enemy in your sights, making Quickscoping more robust as a result. However, with the right attachments, there is a slight way around this.
First off, you’ll want to make sure you get a proper muzzle. The muzzle increases your ability to aim down your rifle, compared to doing it on default. The best one for the job here would probably be the Breacher Device, which comes with improvement to melee quickness.
Next up is choosing the right Barrel. In this case, the shorter the barrel, the better. So forget the Heavy Duty Barrel and work on unlocking the Short Barrel. While it does take away some of the recoil control, it does pick up general movement and aim down sight speed.
As for Optics, these aren’t necessary. You can attach one if you feel like you need a pick-me-up with targeting enemies, but skipping them would probably be your best bet.
You’ll also want to go with the Heavy Stock, as this steadies your gun, ideal when you want to line someone up with a Quickscope. The FMJ perk is also perfect. It increases damage, which in turn gives you a better chance to get the kill right away.
The Rear Grip should be on, if only because it’ll pick up your aim down the sights speed, and the Bipod underbarrel is excellent, providing some recoil and sway control.
Improving Your Quickscoping
Now, when it comes to hitting enemies with the sniper rifle, it can be tricky at first, mainly if you’ve used to general assault rifles. You need to aim through your sight to get them lined up, and then shoot. To do this, you’ll want to grow accustomed to the aiming system, with a dot in the center of the viewpoint when you zoom in. Use this as your guide to line up enemies, and once they’re within range, you can fire away.
This technique will take practice if you’re a newcomer, and since you’re on the move, hitting other moving targets with a sniper rifle is easier said than done. But watching a few videos online may help a bit. We’ve included one below that generally shows how to properly perform Quickscoping, though you can look around if you want more in-depth stuff.
One final bit of advice we can give you is when you Quickscope, you leave yourself wide open. So make sure if you are doing it, you only take about a second to get your shot off. Staying in the scope for longer out in the open makes you easy bait for enemy snipers and other soldiers that may be on the approach. If you can, find some stable cover before you start setting up your Quickscope shots, or you could see your run coming to an end very quickly.
