Overwatch League Host Chris Puckett Not Returning for 2020 SeasonJess SimmondsThu, 01/02/2020 - 12:55

Fan favorite Overwatch League host Chris Puckett has announced that he will not be returning for Season 3. Instead, he will be a freelance host, looking for a number of different opportunities across other competitive titles.

Puckett tweeted a video detailing his plans for the new year, stating that he will be moving to New York from the West Coast in order to support his wife, following a promotion in her career.

Although he may be finished with Overwatch (for now!), Puckett informed fans that he will use this chance to focus on other games he is passionate about, such as Halo, Call of Duty, and Apex Legends. Before his commentating career kicked off, he was a professional Halo player, and he says he is now looking forward to “getting back to some of my roots.”

For the last two years, Puckett has been part of the League’s talent roster, usually hosting alongside the ever-popular Soe Gschwind Penski. Puckett is also known for his bold Doomfist plays during the Talent Takedown.

Puckett has expressed how much he’s loved being part of the League, and that he has nothing but positive feelings for his fellow hosts and commentators. “I want to thank anyone who has been a part of our lives over the last two years,” he said. “Everyone who was working on the Overwatch League truly became our family.”

Puckett is not the first talent to leave the League during the offseason. Christopher "MonteCristo" Mykles announced his departure from the desk on Dec. 31. In a tweet, he cited “irreconcilable creative and philosophical differences between myself and the league’s current leadership” as the reason for his leaving.

Mykles also stated that he will not likely create any Overwatch content in the future due to “low demand for supplementary OWL content,” although he too has positive feelings for the Overwatch League. “No doubt you will find me cheering at the Los Angeles Homestands next year,” he said.

There are some big changes happening to the talent desk at the moment, and it is likely that we will learn more about them as Feb. 8, the start of Season 3, draws closer.

How to Beat Arlo in Pokémon GO

Arlo is one of the three Team GO Rocket leaders in Pokémon GO. You can find them by defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts at captured PokéStops. You'll need to find six mysterious components to create a Rocket Radar. You can equip it from your bag and use it to locate one of the leaders. When you find Arlo at Leader Hideout, you'll need to face off against them to clear out the Hideout.

How to Beat Arlo in Pokémon GO

Arlo now has a new line-up of Pokémon available to bring out against you during your fight. You have a handful of options available to you to fight him, so make sure you keep a rotating roster of compelling choice to use during the engagement.

First Pokémon

The first Pokémon is Bagon, which is a Dragon-type. You'll want to use another Dragon, Fairy, or Ice-type Pokémon or one capable of using any of those move types against it. Bagon has Bite or Ember as their first move, and then Flamethrower, Crunch, or Twister for their second.

Second Pokémon

The second Pokémon in Arlo's roster can consist of Charizard a Fire and Flying-type, Blastoise a Water-type, or Steelix a Steel and Ground-type. All of these Pokémon vary in their types, making it a little challenging to know the best approach to prepare to fight any of these three.

Your best bet might be to rely on a Water-type Pokémon. While they are not effective or stable against Blastoise, you can have them use different moves than Water-type to damage it, and also use these typings to take out Steelix or Charizard if you fight them. It'd be the best bet to ensure you have a durable option for the second choice to win in a fight of attempting to wear out the other's Pokémon.

Third Pokémon

The final Pokémon Arlo could use against you is Dragonite a Dragon and Flying-type, Salamence a Dragon and Flying-type, and Scizor a Bug and Steel-type. You have a bit more consistency here than you did with the other Pokémon choices.

Dragonite and Salamence share the same typing, so you can use a Dragon, Rock, Fairy, or Ice-type during this fight to bring them down pretty fast. While Scizor is a Steel-type, they are resistant to Dragon, Fairy, and Ice-types, but not Rock-type. You may want to rely on a Pokémon with Rock-type abilities or a Rock-type to fight any of these three.

You'll have to think about what type of Pokémon you want to use against any of these different sets. You want to use a general moveset of attacks, focusing on what is resistant to the Pokémon to have yours last the longest. It's tempting to find a Pokémon that can consistently use super-effective attacks, but Arlo's roster comes with quite a bit of health.

It's a game of attrition, with you wanting to last as long as possible. The higher defense and overall resistances your Pokémon has, the longer you can stay in a fight.

We'll update this guide if Arlo's line-up of Pokémon changes.

Fan made life sized array of Breath of the Wild weaponsAdelaide WeissThu, 01/02/2020 - 13:34

A Legend of Zelda fan recreated the weapons from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild over the course of two years and they look fantastic.

Fans are amazing. The dedication they have to a series drives them to stunning levels of creativity. One fan created life size weapons from Breath of the Wild over the course of two years.

First reported by Nintendo Life, Reddit user "tomvdcr" posted their work on the r/Zelda subreddit. The collection consists of several swords, shields, a bow, arrows, and more.

[BotW] all the breath of the wild weapons I have made over the last 2 years from r/zelda

This is an impressive array. According to the artist in another comment, most of them are made from EVA foam and PVC pipes. EVA foam is a common cosplay material due to its light weight. It’s easy to shape into the desired forms and often works well for high fantasy armor and weapons.

In another comment, tomvdcr stated the most “useable” of the arsenal is the Sheikah Slate. The recreated Sheikah Slate doubles as a phone case. The artist linked a video to their instagram showing off the phone case.

In game, the Sheikah Slate is little more than a smartphone. The artist took this idea and recreated it as a phone case. The case is huge. Not shown in the original Reddit post is the belt and clip designed to fit the Sheikah Slate comfortably. It may be bulkier than the average iPhone, but the ease of transport makes it worth it. The Sheikah Slate also lights up in the back, much like the one in game.

The creativity here is astounding. The artist shows amazing dedication to their craft and to the Legend of Zelda series. Breath of the Wild was a game changing installment in the Legend of Zelda series. Entirely open world with the ability to go at your own pace, the game quickly became one of the best Legend of Zelda games. It’s no wonder it has so many loyal, creative fans.

How to Fix the Green with Envy Quest Bug in Destiny 2

The Green with Envy quest is currently available from the Drifter, but completing it is proving to be difficult due to a bug. The quest consists of two steps. The first step is to take out 600 enemies as a team, bank 600 motes as a team, and reach the Infamy Rank of Heroic. This part should go off without a hitch; it is the next step that is causing people problems.

For the second step, titled "Show Off," you need to 150 enemy Guardian kills, defeat 1400 enemies, and reach the Infamy Rank of Fabled. Players have noticed that even when they hit Fabled Rank, that part of the quest card does not fill in. The reason for this is that they need to hit the Rank of Mythic instead.

At the moment, it is unknown if this is because the wording on the card is incorrect, and it should say Mythic, or the coding of the quest is complete, and it should complete on Fabled. Either way, if you stay ranking up your Infamy until you reach Mythic, this part of the quest will then complete for you. To do this quickly, grab the daily and weekly bounties, then get back into the Gambit playlist.

Remember, the Dawning is still on-going in Destiny 2, and there is plenty to do in the game right now. You will need to get lots of Essence of Dawning and ingredients. You will also need to know all the recipes for the various snacks that you will be handing out, and where to take them. While you are working on the Green with Envy quest, it is also a good time to get the Python, the Ritual Weapon you can get from Gambit this season.

How to Beat Cliff in Pokémon GO

How to Beat Cliff in Pokémon GO

Cliff is one of three Team GO Rocket leaders in Pokémon GO. If you're going to take on the Rockets, you'll likely face this leader at some point. You can find him by picking up Mysterious Components from Team GO Grunts at captured PokéStops. When you have six you can build a Rocket Radar to locate a Leader Hideout.

Cliff has a new line up of Pokémon to use this time around. You won't have an easy time taking him down, and you'll want to focus on using durable Pokémon to meet his outstanding collection.

First Pokémon

The new first Pokémon Cliff will use against you is Stantler a Normal-type Pokémon. There's nothing too special about fighting this one, so you'll want to stick to using a Fighting-type to take them down quickly. You'll want to avoid using Ghost-types when fighting it.

Second Pokémon

The next choice is a toss-up between three options. Cliff might throw Electivire an Electric-type, Marowak a Ground-Type, or Onyx a Rock-type Pokémon against you. All three of these choices vary, making your next roster choice a bit difficult.

Your best option would likely be to choose a robust Grass-type Pokémon into this encounter. While Electivire is not weak to grass, a Grass-type could reliably withstand their attacks, and cause a severe amount of damage to Marowak and Onyx because they are both weak to that type.

Any Electric or Water-type Pokémon would be too big of a risk because if Cliff has Electivire you could find yourself cornered pretty quick. A Grass-type remains a safe bet with a reliable series of attacks capable of damaging any of these options.

Third Pokémon

The final choice might place your roster to the test and strain your skills. Cliff could have Swampert a Water and Ground-type, Torterra Grass and Ground-type, or Tyranitar a Rock and Dark-type Pokémon. You have a handful of options available to you.

The best option would be another Grass-type against this trio. A Grass-type would be able to damage Tyranitar and Swampert if Cliff uses them severely. It would not do any significant damage against Torterra, but it'd be an excellent choice to fight with during this engagement.

You'll want to avoid Electric, Fire, or Rock-type Pokémon during this final fight. You'll find these Pokémon can make short work of them, and you'll quickly find yourself without a reliable team to withstand Cliff's attacks.

You'll want a robust line-up of Pokémon to face off against Cliff. While you can focus on out-right damaging his roster, you'll find it far more useful to come to the fight, ready to have an engagement of endurance. You want to withstand the attacks, while also dealing a reasonable degree of damage to Cliff's roster. Make sure you're ready for the long haul.

Escape from Tarkov Controls Guide

Escape from Tarkov by Battlestate Games may look like a typical multiplayer FPS on the surface, but spend any amount of time in the game, and you’ll see that there’s a lot more happening. The competition is fierce in Escape from Tarkov, and the game forces you to have smart movement and position. You have to treat it as equally important as the ability to line up headshots.

Of course, giving players the ability to fine-tune their movements also makes Escape from Tarkov’s controls a good deal more complicated than they are in most FPS games.

The basic controls in Escape from Tarkov are what you might be familiar with from other FPS games. You can use W, A, S, and D to move, Spacebar to jump, C to crouch, and Left Shift to sprint, but beyond that, things become more complicated. Here’s a look at the controls and more explanation about some of the most important ones to give you a leg up heading into the game.

Movement

W - Move forward
A - Move left
S - Move backward
D - Move right
Spacebar - Jump

Controlling Movement

Movement speed is essential in Escape from Tarkov because moving faster generates additional sound and sprinting drains stamina. You need to know when it’s safe to run and also keep in mind moving slower is typically better if you to avoid giving away your position.

Pressing Left Shift lets you sprint at maximum speed, but uses stamina.

Pressing C while sprinting lets you slide, which can make you move quickly with a low profile, but it’s a dangerous maneuver because it’s imprecise and generates noise.

You can increase your speed incrementally using Mousewheel Up, and decrease it using Mousewheel Down.

Pressing Caps Lock toggles walking, changing your movement to the minimum speed.

Controlling Positioning

Moving in Escape from Tarkov is a skill. You can take on three significant stances with small steps in between them, and you’re able to sidestep and lean to have even more control of your character.

Pressing C places you into a crouched stance, and pushing X sets you into a prone position. While holding C, you can use the Mousewheel to cycle through positions in between prone, crouched, and standing to take advantage of cover or make yourself harder to hit.

Pressing Q and E lets lean left and right, which is extremely helpful for firing out of cover. Holding Left Alt and A or D enables you to control how much you lean if you don’t want to peek out all the way.

Similarly, holding Left Alt and Q or E will let you sidestep, which moves your entire body, unlike leaning. It’s generally safer to lean rather than sidestep in most situations.

Controlling Weapons

Escape from Tarkov gives you numerous options for dealing with your weapons, similar to movement. It’s more than clicking to fire in Escape from Tarkov. You need to master a relatively complex set of controls to get the most out of combat.

Pressing Left Altand T will let you check your weapon’s magazine to see if you have ammo, while Left Shift and T will check the chamber to make sure a round is loaded. This is important since you’ll often be scavenging weapons during matches, and you won’t know whether they’re loaded when you pick them up.

Pressing B changes the firing mode on weapons that have multiple functions.

Pressing R once reloads, but pressing it twice does quick reload by tossing your current magazine.

For weapons with variable scopes, you can use Page Up or Page Down to adjust your sights.

For weapons with different attachments, use Left Ctrland T to switch between them.

Pressing Alt while aiming lets you hold your breath to steady your aim.

What is the Hatch 7 Eggs Reward in Pokémon GO?

The January Research Tasks have arrived in Pokémon GO, and one, in particular, seems to have Trainers out there curious. There is the usual collection of research tasks that you can get by spinning PokéStops. You can hold up to three of these tasks at once, giving you plenty of options about what to work on.

As always, tasks can range from taking a snapshot of your buddy to catching Pokémon or making great throws. All you need to do to get them is visit PokéStops, so be sure to visit plenty of them over the coming days.

One task is for trainers to hatch seven eggs, and many want to know the reward to know if it's worth putting in all that effort. The reward for this task appears to be an Alolan Vulpix encounter, although this has yet to be confirmed. Alolan Vulpix is an Ice-type, with a max CP of 883, 109 Defense, 96 Attack, and 116 Stamina. If you don't have one already, then the encounter is a great reward.

It's not just January Research Tasks that you have to worry about right now, as the Take-Over Continues Special Research Tasks are also available. These Special Research tasks involve Team GO Rocket, and making it through them will earn you a fight with Team GO Rocket Boss, Giovanni

The first Research Breakthrough of the year is also active, involving a Lapras with Ice Shard and Ice Beam. The Lapras Research Breakthrough runs from Jan. 1, at 1:00pm, to Feb. 1, at 1 pm PST.

The Adventure Sync Hatchathon is also currently ongoing in the game and will run until Jan. 16 at 1:00pm PST. You receive additional rewards for hatching eggs, so it's the perfect time to work on those seven eggs for your Field Research. You will receive the following bonuses during Hatchathon 2020:

  • Twice as many Hatch Candy
  • Twice as much Hatch Stardust
  • After walking 50km you will receive 50,000 Stardust, 15 Rare Candies, and a Unova Stone

It's a hectic time in Pokémon GO at the moment, so get to walking.

How to Beat Sierra in Pokémon GO

How to Beat Sierra in Pokémon GO

Sierra is one of the three Team GO Rocket leaders you can fight in Pokémon GO. To face her, you need to collect six Mysterious Components from Rocket Grunts at captured PokéStops. After you receive them, you can build a Rocket Radar to hone in on a Leader Hideout. Here's what you need to know to fight Sierra.

You need to use robust and durable Pokémon when fighting Sierra. If you use damage-based choices, you'll find your Pokémon can attack well, but they won't last in a long fight. You want to use more defensive options with all-around general attacks to consistently fight against any Pokémon Sierra throws at you.

First Pokémon

The first Pokémon you'll face against Sierra is Absol a Dark-type. You can choose to use a Bug, Fairy, or a Fighting-type Pokémon, or one with any of these type-attacks. You shouldn't have too much trouble with any of the three choices.

Second Pokémon

Sierra has the opportunity to choose one of three different Pokémon for this option. She could pull out Alakazam, a Psychic-type; Lapras, a Water and Ice-type; or Cacturne, a Grass and Dark-type. Not many Pokémon match up in terms of a similar type, so you'll have to remain creative and flexible during this portion of the battle.

Your best option is to pick a Pokémon who is a Bug-type or can use Bug-type moves to attack Alakazam and Cacturne. They are both weak to Bug. However, Lapras is weak to Electric, Fighting, Grass, and Rock-types. A Fighting-type would work against Cacturne and Lapras, but if Sierra uses Alkazam, they could easily take out a Fighting-type, and then you're left with a useless slot.

Your best option might be to go with Heracross, because it's a Bug- and Fighting-type, or Pinsir, Scizor, or Leavanny.

Third Pokémon

Sierra has another series of three options to choose from for her final Pokémon. She could have Gallade a Psychic and Fighting-type, Houndoom a Fire and Dark-type, or Shiftry a Grass and Dark-type. Some of these types match up far better than the previous options, so you might have an easier time making a choice.

Your best option would be to find a reliable Flying-type Pokémon to whittle down Shiftry or Gallade quickly. Unfortunately, Houndoom is not weak to a Flying-type, but he cannot cause super-effective against one. You'll need to watch to see the other typing choices for your Pokémon due to Houndoom having Fire and Dark moves.

Lugia would be an excellent option because it could resist some of Gallade's attacks, and deal considerable damage to all three options. You'd have to avoid Psychic-type attacks against Shiftry, but that's about it.

Regardless of the options you choose for each battle, you'll want to make sure you consider a stable, reliable defensive type for each battle. It's a fight of endurance with Sierra's Pokémon bringing plenty of health and damage to the table. The more durable your choices are, the longer you can last and make it to the end of the fight.

How To Do Pokémon GO's Hatchathon 2020

Pokémon GO returns with an event at the start of the year: Hatchathon 2020. Trainers in the game now have more motivation than ever to start the year off with more paces and placing those eggs into incubators to have them start hatching. Here's what you need to know about the event.

What To Do

The event takes place from Jan. 2 starting at 1:00pm PST ending at Jan. 16 1:00pm PST. During the time frame, you receive twice as many Pokémon Candy and Stardust rewards after hatching an egg.

Your overall goal is to reach 50km before the end of the event to receive:

  • 50,000 Stardust
  • 15 Rare Candies
  • A Unova Stone

You want to consistently put eggs into incubators while walking around with Pokémon GO active. The eggs have particular rewards and have Pokémon with unique looks available inside of them.

Exclusive Items

The eggs you hatch during Hatchathon 2020 have the chance of producing a unique Pokémon with an exclusive look for the New Year.

  • 2km eggs can contain a Pichu or Wurmple with a Party Hat
  • 7km eggs can contain a Pichu with a Party Hat

Beyond those items, you have the opportunity to purchase a pair of 2020 Specs from the Style Shop. You can pick them up for 160 PokéCoins under the "Glasses" section.

Event Pokémon

While you're walking around, you might notice a two-star raid at the gyms. These locations also have event-exclusive Pokémon, such as Raticate and Wobbuffet wearing a Party Hat. You and your friends can work together to try and take them down during the event.

Watch out because you may notice an exclusive Pikachu in the wild also wearing a Party Hat. You'll have to roam around to locate these, so check out areas you'd generally find Electric-type Pokémon, such as industrial buildings, colleges, and drier climates.

Additionally, all of the Party Hat Pokémon (Pichu, Wurmple, Wobbuffet, Raticate, and Pikachu) all have Shiny versions. If you're lucky to find one of the wild, make sure you rush after them when you see them.

Wild Feverfew Locations in Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 boasts many plants that can be harvested, sold to merchants, and used to craft various items. While Wild Feverfew may be familiar, players often find it hard to locate when trying to complete daily challenges.

Wild Feverfew, also known as Parthenium Ligulatum, is a short flower with white petals, yellow florets, and a green leafy base. It is found throughout the New Austin area, near Cholla Springs and Armadillo.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Wild Feverfew

The plant can be consumed to fill up a player’s Stamina Core. It can also be crafted into medicine, poison for weapons, seasoning for cooking, and other consumables using recipes in a Pamphlet.

Since it is a white flower, it is very distinct on the soil backdrop with color differentiation. The plant can be found in the area west of the town near Armadillo. Also, a few plants can be harvested along the vertical railroad nearby, and where the Armadillo text is on the map.

Unfortunately, those in the singleplayer mode must finish the Arthur Morgan section of the campaign before unlocking this area.

The Wild Feverfew will be an essential consumable during the later parts of the game, as the stamina boost makes traveling the long distances that are required, much faster.

Fan Made Mother 4 Game Rebrands to Oddity In A New TrailerCale MichaelFri, 01/03/2020 - 03:50

The Mother series, or Earthbound as it is known in the West, has been absent from Nintendo's newer catalog of games since Mother 3 released in 2006 for the Game Boy Advance, but only in Japan.

The is beloved by fans, but only the first two games have ever reached the West, with Earthbound, which is Mother 2 coming out in 1995 and the original just releasing for the first time as EarthBound Beginnings in 2015 on the Wii U eShop. But only because the games have been absent for so long hasn't stopped the community from doing their due diligence to keep the spirit of those games alive.

The most famous examples of the fan community are the massive success of Undertale, which was heavily inspired by those games and made by Toby Fox, who made Earthbound ROM hacks in the past. The fan translated Mother 3 ROM that you can use to play the game in English despite it never releasing overseas. But there is another game coming out that has the potential to ignite the fandom just like Undertale did, and it used to be called Mother 4

This fan game has been in development for years, with many people following its development since the team began working on it in 2008. It was initially supposed to release in December 2014, but several changes to the team and overall plans for the game saw it get delayed multiple times.

The team announced back in 2017 that they were going to be removing any likeness that their sprites, music, text, story, and features had with Nintendo's IP and would instead keep the inspiration while rebranding the project. And after two years, that work has reached a point where the devs were ready to share their newly minted project, revealing that Mother 4 was going full Indie and becoming Oddity.

It is clear from the trailer alone that the team was more than willing to keep the design aesthetic that pays direct homage to Mother. Still, the extra flairs, crisp animation, and several other aspects show just where the team decided to branch out and make the game their own.

Just like with Undertale, you can see where the inspiration of Mother influenced the characters and overall look of the game, and the care put into crafting what could easily be a recent installment of the series is evident. From a team that signed off on their project with the tagline "made with love," just changing the name hasn't changed just how much they care about the project.

There is no clear timeframe for when this beautiful little game will release, but the devs put one message at the end of the trailer to make sure fans know the project is only going to come out when it is entirely up to their standards.

"It'll be out when it's ready. Relax until then."

Respawn Founder Vince Zampella Taking Over, Rebranding DICE LA StudioEthan ChenFri, 01/03/2020 - 04:56

Respawn Entertainment co-founder and CEO Vince Zampella has announced he will now lead the Los Angeles division of Electronic Arts’ DICE game studio, DICE LA, adding that the studio will likely rebrand to give itself a fresh start.

Zampella is well known for Respawn’s work on titles like Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. In addition, he has also contributed to the creation of games like Titanfall, Call of Duty, and Medal of Honor

"We want to give [DICE LA] a new image," Zampella said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. "We want people to say, ‘This is a destination you can go and make new content.’ I think [DICE LA has] kind of gotten the branding that they are the support studio for DICE Stockholm. I think rebranding is important for showing people, ‘Hey! Come work here. We’re going to do some amazing things.’”

Sweden-based developer DICE is most well known for games like Mirror’s Edge, along with the Battlefield and Star Wars: Battlefront series. The Los Angeles studio will be separate from DICE Stockholm, and also from Respawn Entertainment, which EA acquired in December of 2017. Zampella states that there will be interaction so both can learn from each other, but the studios will produce their own games.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will continue to be led by Stig Asmussen, and Apex Legends will keep Chad Grenier at the reigns. Virtual reality title Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond will be headed up by Peter Hirschmann.

Zampello noted that he doesn’t think Electronic Arts’ acquisition of Respawn Entertainment meant giving up his independence. Instead, it has given his “smaller studio” greater resources to help shape the future.

“The industry is changing, and we have the chance to be at the forefront of that,” Zampella said. “Being able to take on new challenges, like DICE L.A. falling under me now, is exciting. I want to challenge myself. I want to do something bigger.”

Final Fantasy VII Remake Scenario Writer Disappointed About Demo LeaksPaolo SirioFri, 01/03/2020 - 05:09

Scenario writer Kazushige Nojima has expressed his disappointment about Final Fantasy VII Remake demo leaks.

The demo was leaked mistakenly on the PlayStation Store. It was datamined, allowing users to learn more about new elements added to the remake, more characters' design, and even the ending of the first episode.

These components were kept under wraps for a reason. The leaks saddened the development team, as it revealed way too many secrets of the game to the fans.

Nojima took to Twitter to share that "seeing everything getting leaked after so much work is making my stomach hurt," not hiding at all the sensations he felt when looking at all that material popping up on the Internet out of nowhere.

The reaction of fans on social media were so warm that the scriptwriter returned to Twitter a few hours later, and told his followers "thank you wonderful people. I was healed. good night," just before going to sleep.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is releasing on March 3, 2020 for PlayStation 4. A demo has not been announced yet, but leaks above lead us to think that it could be coming in the next couple of months or at least before day one.

From Software Official Website Claims Elden Ring Is Releasing in JunePaolo SirioFri, 01/03/2020 - 05:23

From Software's official website is hinting at an Elden Ring's June 2020 release date.

The official website is now allowing fans of the Japanese studio to create a "new year's card" with an image based on the three games from the development team - Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Metal Wolf Chaos XD, and Elden Ring.

The website says that Sekiro and Metal Wolf Chaos XD were "released in 2019," and this is correct as Sekiro - one of the best games last year launched in March 2019. Metal Wolf Chaos XD, a remaster published by Devolver Digital, shipped in August 2019.

The website also mentions that "Elden Ring released in June," and this is a surprise since the release window for the incoming title has not been revealed yet.

All previous rumors have pointed out that the game could launch in June 2020. Last time, it was reported June 30, 2020, so that the title could take advantage of next E3's mediatic push.

Elden Ring was announced at E3 2019's Xbox media briefing. It's coming from the creator of Dark Souls, Hidetaka Miyazaki, and George R.R. Martin, the author of The New York Times best-selling fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire, which TV show Game of Thrones is based.

“The player will be able to learn about Martin’s mythology through exploration,” said Miyazaki about this partnership. “We are known for letting the player explore the game’s lore through fragments of environmental storytelling, and this time around Martin’s story is what you will be trying to unravel. The period the player explores is still connected to the old times, so as you slowly discover why the world has become the way it is, you will learn more about Martin’s mythology as well.”

Elden Ring is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

NPD Analyst Predicts Xbox Series X and PS5 Won't Impact Nintendo Switch Sales in 2020Cale MichaelFri, 01/03/2020 - 05:39

The Nintendo Switch bridged the gap between the company's console and handheld markets, making it a huge success that can be used just like a regular console or on the go away from the HDMI cable and dock.

And even though Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Sony's PlayStation 5 are going to launch the next generation of consoles in 2020, the numbers point to continued success for the hybrid machine.

NPD Games analyst Mat Piscatella, a survey run by the company, shows that 40 percent of Switch owners in the United States also own one or both of the other consoles too. And even just taking into account the number of people polled in the PlayerPulse survey, it has long been perceived that most people use the Switch as supplementary hardware if they play games outside of Nintendo exclusives.

Supplementary, in the case of a console, means that it is being used as an additional piece to someone's gaming library and is not the only way they consume games in the current console market. Most Switch owners use the hybrid as a way to enjoy Nintendo's products and Indie titles on the go, while the PS4 or Xbox One are used to play third party games in the highest quality and other console exclusives.

Piscatella predicts that the launch of next-gen hardware won't have a significant impact on the Switch's sales because it will continue to be used by most people who plan on buying one of the new consoles as a supplementary piece. It will be the Indie and Mario machine as many put it, while the new consoles will be used to play FIFA 21Halo Infinite, and whatever launch titles come out on PS5.

As the generation continues to evolve and less third party titles can make use of the Switch's hardware because it is outdated compared to the Xbox Series X and PS5. The sales may begin to see a decline because newer games will have a harder time running well and the disparity between the next-gen and Switch versions of a title will be much more noticeable. But that still won't stop people from using it to play the less graphically intensive games and Nintendo's titles.

The numbers show that Nintendo's hybrid darling will be safe at least through 2020 and most of 2021 as it is because it is being used as a supplement and not the main ingredient for a large portion of gamers. But the longer we go into the new decade without a Switch Pro or some other improvement to the console; those sales figures could start dropping.

Resident Evil 3's File Size Is Twice As Big As Resident Evil 2 RemakePaolo SirioFri, 01/03/2020 - 05:46

Microsoft Store's official page has revealed the file size of Resident Evil 3, and it's pretty big in comparison with the previous entries from the franchise.

The survival horror game is reported to be 43.01 GB. The Microsoft Store's listing also claims that the game has been split into two different downloads, one for the story campaign, and the other for the Resident Evil Resistance multiplayer mode.

The campaign's file size is reported to be 21.93 GB, which is about the same size as the Resident Evil 2 remake upon day one (21.07GB). Resident Evil Resistance - which was initially revealed as a standalone Resident Evil 4v1 experience, is about 20.47 GB.

It's worth noting that the file sizes are for the Xbox One version of the game. The file size for the PC and PlayStation 4 ports might be slightly or mostly different. Capcom has already announced that the game is in its “final adjustments” phase, so we should get more details about other versions, too.

Resident Evil 3's remake is launching on April 3, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It is said to be more action-oriented in comparison with Resident Evil 2. Contrary to that game, though, it's being co-developed at an external team called M-Two Inc., a studio founded by former Capcom's veteran Tatsuya Minami.

Steam's 2019 Top Grossing Games Only Feature Two Titles Launched Last YearPaolo SirioFri, 01/03/2020 - 06:01

Steam has released a list of the top-grossing games in 2019, and only two of them were released last year.

The "Platinum" tier, which is composed of the best selling titles on Valve's marketplace, only features From Software's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Creative Assembly's Total War: Three Kingdoms from 2019, while all the others have been on the store for years now.

Sekiro has received a very warm reception from fans on every platform, achieving a few weeks ago its 3,8 million copies sold milestone. It was also awarded a Game of the Year award at The Game Awards last December, beating among the others Kojima Productions' Death Stranding.

Monster Hunter World, Grand Theft Auto V, The Elder Scrolls Online, Dota 2, Rainbow Six: Siege, Destiny 2, Counter-Strike, PUBG, Warframe, and Civilization VI completes the list. Although we don't have specific figures about their sales nor their order is indicative of their purchases.

The "Gold" tier features only five titles from 2019: Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5, Mordhau, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Others from previous include Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Total War: Warhammer II, Rocket League, and Dead by Daylight.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is also listed in the "Gold" tier, pretty much because of the boost in sales for the game after Netflix The Witcher's success. Despite being launched in 2015, the game was played by one million users in December, making that its best month ever.

New Mod Adds "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher" to the Witcher 3Aidan O'BrienFri, 01/03/2020 - 07:59

The Netflix adaptation of The Witcher has been a massive success with fans, so much so that lots of us to flood back to the game on Steam. If there has been one surprise star from the series, it is Jaskier, played by Joey Batey, and the song "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher." The song is racking up millions of views on Youtube, countless covers, and is even being added to other games

A modder has now added the song, and an exceptional performance by Dandelion/Jaskier, to The Witcher 3. The mod introduces the song to the game in the form of a cutscene, complete with lyrics. The cutscene takes place in The New Narakort Inn, which you can find in Vizima.

You can download the mod from Nexus Mods, but be prepared to update it. Hub997, the modder who created the cutscene mod, is working on improvements already. They have plans for a fully furnished interior, new characters, better animations, and improved camera work to showcase Dandelion's abilities fully.

They are also planning a second cutscene, featuring another of the Netflix show's songs, and they even plan on doing a cutscene featuring a song from the Alzur's Legacy fan film. They will also attempt to create a cutscene for "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher" for The Witcher 2 after people requested it.

To get the mod, head over to the Nexus Mods page and download it, then follow the installation instructions. If you don't have a gaming PC, you can watch the cutscene in the video above. I doubt this will be the last we will see of the series, or Jaskier's songs, in The Witcher 3, as the game is well known for its massive support among the modding community.

Grand Theft Auto V Is Available On Xbox Game Pass, Starting TodayAidan O'BrienFri, 01/03/2020 - 09:19

Grand Theft Auto V is now part of the Xbox Game Pass for Consoles. Microsoft announced via the official Xbox Game Pass Twitter, so if you have yet to play one of the biggest games in history, and are an Xbox Game Pass customer, now is your time.

People with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Xbox Live Gold will also have access to Grand Theft Auto Online, the game's multiplayer component. Xbox Game Pass members will also get up to 10% off any purchase of the Criminal Enterprise Start Pack, or Shark Cards, the game's premium currency that nets you in-game dollars to spend on cars, weapons, clothes, and real estate.

Initially released in 2013, the game was updated for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014, before finally coming to PC in 2015. It is a surprising addition to the Xbox Game Pass lineup, especially given the fact that the game still enjoys strong sales, almost seven years after release.

Part of that is the success of GTA Online, a sprawling multiplayer sandbox that allows people to take part in heists, run their own business, own property, and collect vast amounts of cars and other vehicles. The most recent update added the Diamond Casino and Resort, including a new heist.

For people who are interested in giving Xbox Game Pass a whirl, you can currently get three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $1, but that deal will end on Jan. 6. It's a great time to try out the service, especially if you have never played Grand Theft Auto V before.
