WB Montreal Continues To Tease Its Upcoming Batman Project With a New ImageRobert WorkmanThu, 01/09/2020 - 12:05

It’s been practically eons since we’ve heard anything about a new game featuring the legendary Batman. But WB Montreal is building up some kind of big reveal, based on its latest cryptic post.

The developer continued to hint at its latest project today, with a Facebook post that contains a new image, along with the text “Cape sur la nuit / Capture the Knight.” The image is below.

Batman

This piece is part of a crest, one that includes the image of an eagle, along with a pair of swords and crown in the center. One savvy fan managed to put together the full image, which you can see below. (Thanks to PlayStation Lifestyle for pointing that out)

Batman

As for what it signifies, it’s hard to tell. On the one hand, this could be a sign of the Court of Owls, who have been teased as Batman’s new adversaries in the upcoming game. But it could also suggest the Gotham City Police Department, since one could easily see it as a crest that symbolizes justice.

Past rumors suggested that the new WB Montreal game could be a spiritual follow-up to Batman: Arkham Origins, which came out in 2013. It was well received by fans and served as an entertaining spin-off to Rocksteady Studios’ Batman: Arkham trilogy. So a follow-up, especially one rumored to feature the entire “Bat family” of Batman, Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl, would be welcomed by fans.

The company had no comment on the image nor any kind of announcement as to what it’s working on. But it could be winding up for a big reveal sometime this year, potentially for a new Batman game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

For now, we’ll have to be patient and see what the developer has in store. E3 is right around the corner, you know...

Can You Get Galarian Slowking in Pokemon Sword and Shield?

Galarian Slowpoke is coming to Sword and Shield, but getting its evolutions might be more of a struggle.

Galarian Slowpoke is the teaser for the new Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass DLC, which includes Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra. While Galarian Slowpoke is available now, evolving the Pokémon is another story. Both evolutions are available, but players will not be able to get them until the DLC is released.

Can you get Galarian Slowking?

The short answer is yes. But not until Crown Tundra is released in the fall.

Kanto’s Slowpoke, the original, evolved into Slowbro through leveling. Once Slowpoke hit level 37, it would evolve. In later generations, if players wanted, they could use a King’s Rock and evolve it that way. If traded while holding King’s Rock, Slowpoke would evolve into Slowking.

Current details are vague, but both Galarian evolutions are possible. According to the press release, Galarian Slowpoke will evolve with a “specific item” for both Slowbro and Slowking. The items can only be found in the DLCs. The item to evolve Slowpoke into Slowbro will be in Isle of Armor, while the item for Slowking will be in the Crown Tundra DLC.

We don’t know exactly what this “specific item” is yet, or how it evolves with the item. It may need to be traded like the original Slowking. Perhaps it’s used like an evolutionary stone instead. Since Galarian Slowpoke doesn’t evolve via leveling, it is hard to guess what the process may be. Slowking was already obtained through trading, so it might be a decent guess that the Galarian form will use the same mechanic.

Galarian Slowpoke is available now for Sword and Shield. And yes, there’s a shiny form. Catch it now to prepare your perfect Slowking or Slowbro when the DLCs release later this year.

Tencent's Nintendo Switch Cartridges From China Will Be Region Locked

Tencent's Nintendo Switch Cartridges From China Will Be Region LockedRobert WorkmanThu, 01/09/2020 - 12:19

Tencent recently teamed up with Nintendo to release the Switch system in China, opening up a huge new market for it. So far, it’s been a big hit with consumers. But there is some bad news for those that were looking to import games from that market.

Daniel Ahmad, who serves as an analyst for the games industry, recently reported some interesting info about Chinese Nintendo Switch cartridges. Apparently, they won’t work on any other systems outside of that country, due to region locking.

Ahmad explained in this tweet, “Game cartridges released for the Tencent Nintendo Switch will not work on global Nintendo Switch consoles. For example, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe will be published on Jan 15th by Tencent in China. This cartridge will ONLY work on the Tencent Nintendo Switch.”

The Chinese eShop is also region locked, so you won’t be able to get those games digitally, either.

This marks a change from pace from previously released Nintendo Switch games. Up until this point, the system was completely region free. That means users could order cartridges from the European and Japanese markets and have them work just fine in a U.S. Nintendo Switch, and vice versa. But it appears that Tencent is limiting how the Chinese Switch cartridges work.

Those that purchase a Chinese Nintendo Switch system will be able to use the games. However, if they travel outside of the country, they won’t be able to use any of its online features.

Thus far, there aren’t any big Chinese-exclusive games that other users want to go after, save for the upcoming Rabbids Adventure Party. But that could change depending on what Tencent and Nintendo have lined up.

Sword and Shield DLC Will Add 200 New Pokémon to the GameAidan O'BrienThu, 01/09/2020 - 12:33

The surprise announcement of an expansion pass for Pokémon Sword and Shield that will feature two new DLCs should be good news to fans of the game. The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra DLCs will add over 200 Pokémon to the game. This will increase the number of Pokémon in the game from 400 to 600, an increase of 50 percent.

To make things more interesting, a new Pokémon is already in the game, in the form of Galarian Slowpoke. The trailer for the DLC gives us a great look at many of the Pokémon that will be coming to the game, with some obvious fan favorites in there

The best news is that you won't even need to own the DLC to get the new Pokémon added to your Pokédex. Game Freak has plans to allow people to trade Pokémon from people who own the DLC, even if they don't own the DLC themselves. Free updates will also be available when the DLCs are released.

The expansions will also include lots of new features for you to get to grips with, as you try to become the world's greatest Trainer.

Pokémon Home will also be releasing next month, according to Nintendo. While no exact date was given, this will be good news to all fans of Pokémon games. The service is designed to replace Pokémon Bank, and is expect to have a price of $4.99 annually. You will be able to transfer Pokémon from  Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go EeveePokémon Sword and Shield, and Pokémon GO.

While players will also be able to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Home to Sword and Shield, this function will be limited to just the Pokémon that appear in the game's Pokédex. Pokémon Home will also support all the new Pokémon that are introduced with the new expansions.

You'll Have to Buy Sword and Shield Expansion Pass Twice If You Want It For Both GamesAdelaide WeissThu, 01/09/2020 - 12:44

Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra are Pokémon’s first venture into DLC and expansion passes. While many are hesitant when it comes to the phrase “expansion pass,” the new system could end up being better than buying a sequel with hardly any new content.

There is a downside to the new DLC system, though. Since the DLC will use the base game’s save file, players with both copies will need to get one DLC for each.

It’s not uncommon for fans to get both versions of the latest Pokémon game. It helps with collecting and completing the National Dex, and it’s fun to experience both variations. The Nintendo eShop confirms this. The description of the expansion pass states the Sword copy is only compatible with Sword, and the same for the Shield version.

Buying it twice isn’t the best deal, with the expansion pass available for pre-order now for about $30. For two copies, that's $60 total—the same price as one copy of the base game, which you've presumably already spent $60 on, per copy. It could end up being a better deal than the traditional Ultra re-release, but that's not out of the picture yet either.

The first part of the pass will be available in June, with the second half arriving in the fall. Pre-ordering unlocks the Galarian Slowpoke today.

How to Evolve Galarian Slowpoke into Galarian Slowbro in Pokémon Sword and Shield

Pokémon Sword and Shield have Galarian Slowpoke joining the game as a free update. There's a specific way to evolve this unique Slowpoke to have it evolve into a Galarian Slowbro.

First, you need to make sure your game has updated on your Nintendo Switch to add Galarian Slowpoke to the game. After the update, fly over to Wedgehurst station in the town between routes 1 and 2. Walk inside of the station to activate the event to receive the Pokémon. If you have Sword you'll talk to Klara, and if you have Shield you'll speak to Avery. The Galarian Slowpoke walks in during the exchange. You'll have the chance to battle it and then catch it.

Now that you have Galarian Slowpoke on your team, the Galarian Slowbro evolution is next on your list. However, you won't have the chance to do this immediately. At this time, to turn Galarian Slowpoke into Galarian Slowbro, you need to evolve it using a specific item you only receive from the Isle of Armor, which is the first brand new expansion pack coming to Sword and Shield later this year in June. The same goes for Galarian Slowking, which you need an item from the Crown Tundra region, the second DLC releasing later this year in the fall.

While you can train up and try out your new Galarian Slowpoke until the Isle of Armor expansion arrives, you won't be able to turn it into a Slowbro or a Slowking. We do not know the exclusive items you're going to need and how to receive them. When we do, we'll update this guide to reflect this information.

Sundered is This Week’s Epic Games Store FreebieRobert WorkmanThu, 01/09/2020 - 13:03

Ever since it opened up shop back in December of 2018, Epic Games Store has been giving away a number of PC games. And this week is no exception, particularly for those that have been looking for a new “Metroidvania” style game to add to their collection.

Sundered is this week’s offering, available free of charge to all consumers starting today and running through Jan. 16. All you need to do is head over to the game’s official listing on the Epic Games Store, add the game to your cart, and get to downloading.

Developed by Thunder Lotus Games — the same team that brought the majestic Jotun to life — Sundered is a gorgeous hand-drawn adventure. Players can either choose to resist or embrace ancient eldritch powers as they take on enemies big and small in an ever-changing world, inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft.

The game features an ever-growing challenge with each new batch of enemies you take on. Fortunately, you don’t have to go it alone, as Sundered supports co-op. Hack-and-slash with friends is always a plus.

This download includes the Eldritch Edition of the game. That means you’ll have access to the Magnate of the Gong update, which includes co-op for up to four players along with new areas to explore and a new boss that will take a lot of effort to bring down.

On Jan. 16, Epic Games Store will introduce its next freebie, the platforming adventure Horace. Check out this page to learn more about this indie darling.

In addition, for those looking to stack up their GTA$ and RP, there’s opportunity galore to do so. Double Rewards are now available through the entire Arena War Series, including modes like Carnage, Flag War, Hot Bomb, and Bomb Ball. These are available through Jan. 16. Borderlands 3's Takedown at Maliwan Blacksite Gets Difficulty Scaling, but Not for LongBryan LawverThu, 01/09/2020 - 14:59

Borderlands 3 players who’ve been waiting for promised changes to Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite to tackle the notoriously difficult mission will finally get their chance. Developer Gearbox Software announced that difficulty scaling for the raid is being implemented next week, but only for a short time.

Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite is the first endgame raid to appear in Borderlands 3, with further Takedowns scheduled to come later. According to Gearbox, this mission is intended to be one of the game’s most intense challenges, meant to be attempted only by parties of four experienced Vault Hunters.

Though players welcomed the addition of endgame content when the Takedown was added, many took issue with the balance, particularly the fact that the content is always scaled to four players. That means that players who can’t find full multiplayer groups or simply preferred to play solo were all but locked out of the Takedown.

That’s set to change next week, as Gearbox is implementing a temporary scaled Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite event. From Jan. 16 to 30, Gearbox says that the Takedown will be “slightly easier,” giving more players a chance to experience the entire raid and grab some of the high-level loot contained within. After Jan. 30, Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite will return to its previous difficulty level.

The scaled Takedown event was originally set to launch on New Year’s Eve, but was delayed due to “technical issues,” according to Gearbox.

Related: How to Start Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot in Borderlands 3

In addition to the Takedown scaling, Gearbox also announced a handful of less significant hotfixes going live in Borderlands 3 on all platforms today.

  • Addressed a reported concern that FL4K’s Furious Attack was sometimes not applying bonuses to pet damage as expected
  • Addressed a reported concern that Rakkcelerate was sometimes not applying the cooldown modifier as stated on the skill’s description
  • Addressed a reported concern that Cheap Tip’s total weapon shield capacity was sometimes not appearing in the tooltip on the item card
  • Addressed a reported concern that The Arbalest of Discipline was sometimes spawning with just shields
  • Temporarily lowered the health on Anointed Enforcer

The final point, lowering the health of the Anointed Enforcer, is only a temporary fix as the developer works to solve a problem that made the enemy more difficult than intended thanks to its immunity abilities not working properly.

Warframe Empyrean Hotfix 27.0.9 Patch Notes

Warframe's Empyrean Hotfix 27.0.9 is now live in the game. The amount of changes, fixes, and rebalances are substantial, as Digital Extremes looks to level things out after the launch of Empyrean, and the introduction of Railjack missions.

Armor values of enemies in Railjack missions have been changed, with all Fighters getting their armor values halved, but with a slight bump to health to improve the feel of combat.

There has been the welcome addition of a market to Avionics when they drop in mission, meaning no more fear of missing out if you don't comb every inch of the huge levels. All Avionics can now drop from Elite Fighters in deep space.

Pretty much all weapons have been rebalanced, so make sure to pay careful attention to the "Weapons and Proc Adjustments" section. You can find the full list of patch notes below.

Railjack Additions, Changes, and Fixes:

Halved Fighter Armor
Enemy Fighters in Railjack have too much armor - meaning your Railjack weapons just don’t feel great in the time it takes to kill an enemy. All Fighter Armor values have been halved, with a slight boost in health for non-elites to compensate.

Armor value changes:

  • Flak: 300 to 150
  • Elite Flak: 350 to 175
  • Taktis: 250 to 125
  • Elite Taktis: 350 to 175
  • Cutter: 250 to 125
  • Elite Cutter: 300 to 150
  • Outrider: 800 to 300
  • Elite Outrider: 800 to 400

Health value changes:

  • Flak health: 250 to 375
  • Taktis health: 200 to 300
  • Cutter health: 200 to 300

All Battle Avionics are now potential drops from Elite fighters in Deep Space. Also, with new permanent markers on Avionics, you’ll now ensure none go unclaimed, because you’ll see them!
Battle Avionics rarity was exacerbated by the units they dropped on - adding drops to Elite fighters should increase your chances of acquiring one. We want to see the effects of these new drops before making additional changes.

Weapon & Proc Adjustments:
The idea of ‘one damage type to rule them all’ is one we want to avoid in Railjack’s early days. We are rebalancing aspects of certain Damage types to ensure there’s balanced choices. The Armor changes in conjunction with this means this is a combined effort of finding the right place for all damage types, not just one leader. Please bear with us as we navigate this particular space - with your help, hopefully everyone will get to put their favourites from their Arsenal to use!

  • Decreased the effectiveness of the Particle proc but increased its Duration
    • Reduced to 7.5% damage bonus per hit, still stacks, and lasts 20 seconds. The exponential growth and short duration meant this was far more beneficial to rapid-fire guns than anything else.
  • Increased the effectiveness of the Incendiary proc but decreased its Duration
    • Double the damage per tick but half the duration; same total damage but in less time to feel more relevant.
  • Pulsar series
    • Increased base damage
    • Increased fall off range
      • These extremely precise weapons were having trouble competing with the other options available. Increased damage by about 10% and increased effective range should help give them a more viable role.
  • Photor series
    • Increased fall off range
      • Extra range and these also benefit indirectly from the improvement to Incendiary status.
  • Cryophon series
    • Reduced damage and increased fall off range
      • Reducing the armor values of enemies made these capable of killing every enemy in a single hit, this brings them back in line with the intended time to kill. Please bear in mind we are actively watching player stats and collecting feedback, and are willing to iterate on balance.
  • Zetki House
    • Reduced Heat Accretion for all Zetki weapon variants apart from Cryophon
      • This house trades more heat for more damage, but it felt like they were TOO hot for the amount of extra damage you got.  Compared to the baseline weapons, Zetki now offers 50% more damage for double heat instead of quadruple heat.

Rush Repair Drone Removed from Market:
We are removing the option to buy the Rush Repair Drone and leaving it only as a reward earned at the  end of mission (no longer an in-world drop due to security concerns). We are doing this based on feedback that as a purchasing option it feels too unfair of an advantage. While it technically abides by our rule of ‘Pay for Time’, it bypasses a huge segment of the Railjack resource value. You can still pay to rush Repairs once you’ve contributed resources, but you can no longer outright bypass the entire experience by purchasing the item from the market. We will continue to use Rush Repair Drones as a reward - just not as a Market item.

Doubled the chance of obtaining Wreckage from End of Mission Rewards
This increase will help you acquire more pieces so you can pick and choose which you want to keep. However, we needed to reduce the chance of obtaining Relics to accommodate the Wreckage increase.

  • Permanent in-world markers have been added to Avionics and Salvage in Railjack when they drop.
    • This will allow you to always know what remains on the field of battle, and how to navigate accordingly. Adding awareness to the important loot has been a huge request, and this visibility increase should make sure no loot is left behind. Aside, we are reviewing ‘vacuum’ range.
  • Asterite Resource pickups now reward 2x as much Asterite.
    • Asterite costs for Wreckage were going a bit too slowly, so now you will earn it at twice the rate.
  • Your Squad Overlay is now visible when in various Railjack modes (Pilot, Weapon, etc).
    • There’s been consistent expression that ‘seeing my Squad’s status’ is important. We have now ensured it’s visible when piloting / gunning / etc, and we have added some new iconography to show player states.
  • Added ‘Squad Status’ for Railjack Missions in the Squad Overlay.
    • These Icons show what your squadmates are doing, including: pilot, gunner, cannon, Omni Tool, Archwing, at a point of interest, engineering, fighting a boarding team, in slingshot, in Crewship, or just messing around on the Railjack doing nothing specific.
  • Intrinsic points can no longer be gained once all available Intrinsics are maxed out. If you are already above the maximum, your additional points have not been lost.
  • Railjack minimap is now always fully visible.
  • Better centered the Railjack Pilot HUD diamond.
  • Added new force feedback to all Weapons and Missile Launchers.
  • Off-screen space enemy markers in Archwing now show awareness state fill.
  • Fixed some color and alpha settings on off-screen markers in Archwing for better visibility.
  • Increased brightness and thickness of enemy markers in Railjack.
  • Updated the Railjack name placement on all Skins to be better visible.
  • Set the maximum length for Railjack Names to 50 characters - in practice, this is almost an increase. The limit before was set by width along the available real estate. Now we have properly conforming names. .
  • Optimized camera placements overall when customizing Railjack / viewing aspects.
  • The ‘Toggle Interior’ button now has a checkbox to indicate active state.
  • Railjack Health and Shield now show when they are invulnerable (i.e after a Catastrophic Failure Breach).
  • Removed HUD markers from missiles launched by Seeker Volley battle avionic, which also fixed enemy HUD markers disappearing.
  • The player’s view of a Cloaked Railjack (using Void Cloak) is now a more obvious effect.
  • Railjack name shows in ‘edit name’ input box.
  • Railjack name shows in HUD instead of generic ‘Railjack’.
  • Cargo consoles now show a small effect when they are busy and unavailable to use.
  • Controller ‘start’ button now closes tactical menu instead of opening top menu.
  • Slightly zoomed out the tactical map when on the railjack, increased visibility of minimap features.
  • Sorting for Drain will now sort higher Drain to the top.
  • Added Wreckage count to equip screen.
  • Fixed Engines Colour customization not working properly.
  • Fixed an issue with Railjack stats appearing as the default one when pressing ESC on any part of Components menu.
  • Fixed missing sounds on a certain Archwing fly-in cinematic.
  • Fixed a script error in the Tactical Map.
  • Fixed erroneous ‘Stealth’ component from Railjack gun Huds.
  • Fixed Arrows for Railjack markers pointing the wrong way when you have a scaled HUD.
  • Fixed Nekros’ Shadows of the Dead spawning enemy ships inside Railjacks (lol).
  • Fixed an issue where using the Archwing Slingshot with Melee equipped causes issues.
  • Fixed an issue where you could use menus while in Archwing Slingshot.
  • Fixed the ‘Hijacked’ Grineer Crewship spawning inside geometry.
  • Fixed multiple [HC] tags appearing.
  • Fixed an issue where players entering Grineer Ramsleds could travel unknown places.
  • Fixed Ivara’s Zipline persisting when in Railjack Emplacements.
  • Fixed Railjack audio looping when in Landing Craft.
  • Fixed the Reliquary Void Branches not persisting.
  • Fixed Ballistic and Particle damage icons being swapped in-game.
  • Fixed Railjack Slingshot FX colour not updating properly.
  • Fixed Railjack Weaponry appearing at odd angles for Clients when dismounting.
  • Fixed Clients being permanently dead in Railjacks if they return to a Dojo in the ‘Revive’ screen.
  • Fixed Tactical views of players on Railjack Weaponry not working correctly.

Sony Reveals the Most Downloaded PlayStation 4 Games For 2019Robert WorkmanThu, 01/09/2020 - 15:24

2019 was huge for PlayStation 4 downloads. And in a new PlayStation Blog post, Sony showed just how big they were.

The company reported the 20 top selling PS4 games on the digital front; and, just as we saw back in 2018, it was all about Call of Duty.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare easily took the number one spot in sales, though exact numbers weren’t provided by the company. But what’s interesting are the games that followed closely behind.

In second place, Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition continues to be a huge draw, with the addition of new features, such as crossplay support with Nintendo Switch and Xbox One owners. NBA 2K19 followed in third place, while the newest edition of 2K’s sim, NBA 2K20, was fifth. Between the two, Grand Theft Auto V held a firm position in fourth.

Here are the top 20 downloads for the year:

  1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
  2. Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition
  3. NBA 2K19
  4. Grand Theft Auto V
  5. NBA 2K20

  20. Marvel’s Spider-Man

In addition, Sony also revealed the best-selling PlayStation VR games. Beat Saber dominated, followed by Superhot VR and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR.

  1. Beat Saber
  2. Superhot VR
  3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR
  4. Five Nights at Freddy’s VR: Help Wanted
  5. Job Simulator
  6. Creed: Rise to Glory
  7. Borderlands 2 VR
  8. Firewall: Zero Hour
  9. Blood & Truth
  10. PlayStation VR Worlds

Over on the free-to-play front, Apex Legends was able to squeak by a victory over its battle royale competitor Fortnite, with the Monster Hunter-like Dauntless following in third place.

Finally, when it came to DLC and expansions, the top ten list was entirely Fortnite, with The Laguna Pack leading the charge. The Cobalt Pack and the Wilde Pack followed in second and third place.

Check out all the rankings here. We’ll have to see if Call of Duty can do it again with the latest entry that’s likely to arrive later this year.

League of Legends Season 10 Champion Guide: Sett Tips and Tricks

League of Legends Season 10 Champion Guide: Sett Tips and Tricks

League’s newest champion is about to burst onto the scene - how will this AD-bruiser likely turned melee assassin wreak havoc in the solo lane? In this guide, we’ll teach you all you need to know about Sett - ability information, builds, and maybe even a couple of key combos you can take to the Rift so that you’re fully prepared for when the king of the fighting pits makes an appearance.

The Build

Rune Page

In terms of Runes, we’re looking at Grasp of the Undying. This will help you trade and sustain versus some of the toplaners with in-built sustain, and is rather easy to proc with the additional movement speed granted with your Q. Time Warp Tonic is always beneficial for champions that utilise all-in burst trades to sustain through the lane, so opt for this to make your trades even… punchier (get it?).

Item Choices

Item-wise, you may be tempted to rush out a Tiamat for some additional waveclear - but if you max your W - Haymaker, you will find an abundance of waveclear already built into Sett’s kit. You will want to rush out a Black Cleaver - similar to Gnar, Aatrox, or a more utility focused Riven - and then opt for Death’s Dance into full tank, again very similar to Gnar or Aatrox builds. More offensive utility itemisation options include Guardian Angel or Sterak’s Gage.

settrunes

The Abilities

As aforementioned, W max seems to be the way to go. The reliable waveclear and trade potential - with no regard for mana costs since Sett is essentially resourceless - cannot be ignored. Sett’s passive is that his auto attacks are spread between his two fists, meaning that every other auto attack has increased damage and slightly more range, as well as a little bit of additional health regeneration.

His Q - Knuckle Down - is somewhat useful for closing distances, though the movespeed is negligible compared to the additional burst of damage. The fact it applies on two hits - ie both punches of his passive - is a further bonus. Sett’s W - Haymaker is both good for trading and waveclear as well as all-ins thanks to the shield it grants. His E - Facebreaker is a hook on either side, pulling enemies towards this juggernaut and stunning them if they are hit with both parts in the middle.

Sett’s ultimate is a suppression similar to Malzahar, Warwick, and Vi - a 1.5 second complete lockout that could very well force the enemy to purchase a Quicksilver Sash.

Tips and Tricks

The Combo

Sett’s level 6 all-in is pretty insane, especially if you can weave auto attacks in between every skill similarly to Riven. Open with E and follow with two auto attacks, into Q, two autos, W R auto auto. Once a champion is hit by your slow or suppress they are pretty much guaranteed to eat the rest of your combo - but make no mistake, Sett is a juggernaut type of bruiser. As such, don’t expect insane damage from your full ability rotation, rather just use it to finish off a 50-60% HP target like you would with Garen, Darius, and the like.

Hearthstone’s New Solo Adventure, Galakrond’s Awakening, Debuts Later This MonthRobert WorkmanThu, 01/09/2020 - 15:52

For those Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft players that were waiting for a new Solo Adventure, Galakrond is ready to deliver.

Blizzard has announcedGalakrond’s Awakening, as part of the Descent of Dragons. It’s set to kick off on Jan. 21, running over four different chapters that will make their debut on a weekly basis. The story will revolve around both sides involved in the battle — the League of E.V.I.L. and the League of Explorers.

“When we last left our heroes and villains, the Tombs of Terror had been unsealed, spreading plagues across the sands of Uldum,” the developer explained. “The League of Explorers defeated the Plague Lords, but Arch-Villain Rafaam escaped with the Plague of Undeath. We now know why: to resurrect Galakrond, the progenitor of all dragons!”

Players will choose either the heroes or villains, using a premade deck. Once beaten, however, they’ll be able to go through it again in Heroic mode with their own deck.

Galakrond’s Awakening has a total of 35 cards that unlock as players complete chapters in both the hero and villain campaigns. You can get a glimpse of some of these cards in the official Hearthstone blog post.

The chapters are priced individually at $6.99 or 700 Gold; or you can purchase the entire Solo Adventure for $19.99. If you prefer to try before you buy, the first E.V.I.L. chapter will be available to play for free. Those interested can pre-purchase here.

Check out the trailer below and prepare for an epic battle of good and evil, in pure Hearthstone fashion.

Persona 5 Scramble Gets New, Frantic TrailerShane BlackThu, 01/09/2020 - 15:56

Japan is only a month away from the release of the next  spinoff series with the release of Persona 5: Scramble: The Phantom Strikers set for release on Feb. 20th, and the game just got a new trailer today to showcase some of what fans can look forward to.

The trailer showcases a lot of different scenarios and cinematics from the game. We see what appears to be a military force taking over a city, our favorite characters traveling across Japan, and some battles with shadows. It showed off a quintessential Persona game, and the addition of a "2" at the end turning into an "S" should help with anyone wondering how much of a sequel to Persona 5 the game will be.

Those of us in North America are still unsure of when we can get our hands on the game, though we do have the release of Persona 5 Royal to look forward to.

Persona 5 Scramble is set to release on Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Apex Legends Plans to Get Fancy with the Grand Soirée Arcade EventAidan O'BrienThu, 01/09/2020 - 15:59

Apex Legends is kicking off 2020 with a new event, the Grand Soirée. Starting on Jan. 14 and running until Jan. 28, the event will feature seven new limited-time modes. The modes will last for two days each, and will then be replaced by the next mode.

  • Gold Rush Duos - Jan. 14
  • LIVE. DIE. LIVE - Jan. 16
  • Third Person Mode - Jan. 18
  • Always Be Closing - Jan. 20
  • Armed and Dangerous on World's Edge - Jan. 22
  • Kings Canyon After Dark - Jan. 24
  • DUMMIEs Big Day - Jan. 26

The event will also feature overhauled challenges and a new prize tracking system. According to developers Respawn, this will give everyone more rewards. Finishing challenges will net you points, and more points will get you more rewards. You can think of it as a Battle Pass system, specifically for the event, and free.

Even Scorecard

Each event will feature three challenges, worth 1000 points in total. You will have two days to finish all three challenges before the event changes. Don't worry about the grind, as you won't need to complete all the challenges to get all the rewards. For those who do take part in every mode, there will be a special badge for doing so.

From Jan. 17 to Jan. 20, there will also be a Bonus Scoring Weekend. You will be able to get an additional set of event-specific challenges worth a total of 500 points to help you get those extra rewards.

The Grand Soirée will also feature a direct purchase shop, where you can get Legendary skins, and other event inspired cosmetics for $5 apiece. These skins and items will be rotating during the event, so check the store often, so you don't miss out. Six new Legendary skins are also being added to the loot pool at the start of the event, which can be crafted or gotten from Apex Packs.

Four of the Best Creative Maps in Fortnite

Four of the Best Creative Maps in Fortnite

Creative Mode is one of the most popular aspects of Fortnite. Not only can it provide some practice for the battle royale mode, but the possibilities for different ideas are endless.

Over Creative's lifespan, we've seen some truly spectacular maps and modes designed by creators. Whether it's a funny, care-free map or one of true beauty, you'd be hard-pressed to run out of maps to play.

However, there are always going to be some that stand above the rest. Today, we'll be going over four of the best Creative maps you can play in Fortnite

1. Cizzorz Deathrun 4.0

FaZe Cizzorz is one of the creators that made Creative Mode as popular as it is today. His first Deathrun sparked tons of interest across Twitch and YouTube, making grown men and women rage like they never have before.

However, we feel his fourth installment is his best, and toughest, piece of work. Complete with every trap in Fortnite and complicated levels to navigate, Deathrun 4.0 is sure to keep you glued to your screen with frustration and enjoyment.

The code for Cizzorz's Deathrun 4.0 is: 2778-3253-4171.

2. Gunfight: Pinewood Forest

While many of the Creative maps are meant for fun and goofing off with friends, some of the best maps are those implement a competitive aspect. That's on full display with Gunfight: Pinewood Forest.

Taking the concept from Modern Warfare's 2v2 Gunfight mode, this map puts a Fortnite spin on the 1v1 pit fight. Pinewood Forest is a small, fast-paced map that takes building completely out of the equation.

Like in Modern Warfare, this map randomly generates the player's loadout each round. You only have one life per round and the first to four rounds wins the match. Also, a storm starts to move in after a minute or so, forcing players to the middle of the map. Gunfight: Pinewood Forest was created by BluDrive on YouTube

The code for Gunfight: Pinewood Forest is: 9189-9290-1074

3. Junkyard Juke

This Creative map takes elements from both casual and competitive play. Taking an age-old concept, Prop Hunt, Junkyard Juke makes things fun for both sides, being props and hunters.

Unlike other Prop Hunt modes, Junkyard Juke blinds the hunters for five seconds as the props try to inch their way closer to the center of the map. If the props make it to the incinerator at the map's center, they win that round. However, the hunters are watching from above, ready to shoot any props they see.

The Junkyard Juke map is well-balanced, not giving an edge to either the props or hunters. This Creative map is best played with friends but you can play with anyone and still have a great time.

The code for Junkyard Juke is: 1113-6823-4725

4. Super Smash Bros. Hyrule Castle

Taking one of the most classic maps from one of the most beloved games ever can't go wrong. Hyrule Castle from the original Super Smash Bros. is fully reimagined and playable in Fortnite Creative.

Armed with unlimited ammo, a Grappler and Flint-knock Pistol, you and up to three other players can duke it out on Hyrule Castle. The movement provided by the Grappler and Flint-knock create tons of high-flying action. Other weapons you can have include the Boom Bow, Hunting Rifle, Impulse Grenades, and much more.

At the start of the match, you have 150 health, which goes down when you are hit. Like in the original Super Smash Bros., you can fall off the map and lose a life. The player with the most eliminations at the end of the match wins.

The code for Super Smash Bros. Hyrule Castle is: 6400-7723-2171

The 7 Cool Minecraft House Ideas
Image
Minecraft
John HansenWed, 01/08/2020 - 17:35

One of the first things you do every time you start a Minecraft server is find an area to build a house. Finding proper shelter to protect yourself and the resources you find in the world is paramount to finding success. However, you don’t want to have your entire livelihood to rely on that dirt shack you make at the beginning of the game. Here are some cool Minecraft house ideas from around the internet you should take into consideration.

Treehouse

Usually, when people look at trees in Minecraft, they see the useful wooden planks needed to build so many early game items. However, how many of us grew up jealous of the kids who had a treehouse in their backyard? To make this house you need any wood of your choice and some shears to move around the leave blocks to your choosing. Live out those fantasies you had as a kid with setting up a house perched above any mobs that would look to do it harm (we’re looking at you, creepers).

Hobbit Hole

Any Lord of the Rings fan will want to take a look at making one of the iconic homes for the hobbits in The Shire. For this house, you need to find a hill that you can dig. Be sure to pick out some wooden planks and stairs to stack around the entrance to create the circular door and arches you will need on the inside. Once you have this house set up, you can adequately sit by the fire and admire your precious for years.

Rustic House

If you are looking for a more “real-life” house design, maybe look into this rustic house. The creator uses a bunch of wooden logs and planks to set up a neatly designed building and uses the surrounding dirt and stone blocks to accompany it. There are multiple parts to the creation of this house, so if you want to dive deep into its construction, give it a look.

Medieval Castle

Maybe you need to show off that you are royalty to the rest of the people in your server. In that case, start collecting cobblestone, because you are going to need a ton of it to build this medieval castle. You will need well over 2,000 cobblestone blocks, stairs, slabs, etc. plus wood, stone, and iron bars to create a home fit for a king or queen. It will be a lot of work, but once you are finished, you can indeed be proud of what you accomplished.

Underground Base

A real house for the accomplished introvert. Why build a house out in the open for people to see when you can be to yourself in the dark, comfortable confines of your underground base? The best part about the underground station is it could work anywhere. From the spawn point, you could dig straight down (don’t do that unless you want to fall in lava) and begin shaping your future base and later add minecarts to travel to and from your favorite digging areas.

Underwater House

Sticking with the introvert theme, how about building a secluded house entirely underwater? With the Aquatic Life update, Minecraft added in ways for you to breathe underwater (check out how to do that in our How to Breath Underwater in Minecraft's Update Aquatic article). Create your house underwater and never worry about a creeper blowing up your front door again.

Modern House

For a more relaxed person, you can build this modern house. It is primarily made of easy to find resources like wood, stone, and quartz, and simple in design, but unique when set in a Minecraft server. Build up this house, and your server mates will be pretty jealous of your design skills.

Financially, 2019 Was Pokemon Go's Best Year YetJohn HansenThu, 01/09/2020 - 15:54

Pokemon Go enters 2020 coming off of its best year yet—yes, even better than its Internet-breaking launch in 2016.

In 2019, Niantic's augmented reality game brought in an estimated $894 million, Sensor Tower estimates. For reference, in 2016, Pokemon Go brought in an estimated $832 million.

After its release essentially took the world by storm, the game fell off a bit by amassing "only" $589 million in 2017. In 2018, it rebounded and made $816 million.

In 2019, Pokemon Go had its fourth and fifth best months ever in August and September following the introduction of Team Rocket Go. The top three best months ever still lie in 2016 with its first three months in service. It is also important to point out that the game launched in July of 2016, so in about half of a year it raised a large chunk of 2019's total.

Pokemon Go was the fifth highest grossing app in the world in 2019, sitting behind Candy Crush's $1.1 billion. The highest grossing game of 2019 was Honor of Kings with $1.5 billion.

While Pokemon Go saw another year of success for Niantic, the other game they released in 2019 did not do as hot. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite brought in $23 million. Still a lot of money, but nowhere near the success of Pokemon. The following image from SensorTower shows how dominating Pokemon Go is in the location-based gaming area.

location based revenue

Pokemon Go is the first location-based game to increase revenue over its launch year. In 2019, 54 percent of its income came from the Google Play Store, and the United States was the highest paying country for the game at $335 million. Japan was second at $286 million.

Niantic's commitment to adding new Pokemon, new community events, and other features clearly worked for them in 2019. Stay updated with Gamepur to see any new updates from the game in 2020. So far in its lifetime, Pokemon Go has made over $3.1 billion.

How to Convert Watts Into Pokédollars in Pokémon Sword and Shield

How to Convert Watts Into Pokédollars in Pokémon Sword and Shield

If you spend more time in the Wild Area than playing through the main story of Pokémon Sword and Shield, you might find yourself with a lot of Watts and very little cash.

This, however, can easily be remedied by taking advantage of the items that you can buy for Watts (W) from the Watt Trader, and sell for Pokédollars (p) at the mart within a Pokémon Center, Pokémon Gym, or Train Station.

Pokéballs

The easiest way to convert Watts into Pokédollars is by buying the rotating specialty pokéballs from the Watt Traders, located all around the Wild Area (7 in total). If you can find one selling Luxury Balls, that is the best deal. If you find one selling Heal Balls, however, it's best to look for a different Watt Trader. The list below shows how many Watts it takes to buy one ball, how many Pokédollars it will sell for back at the mart, and the ratio of Watts to Pokédollars with each conversion.

  • Heal Ball
    20 W ---> 150 p (1:7.5)
  • Dusk, Quick, Dive, Net, Nest, Repeat & Timer Ball
    50 W ---> 500 p (1:10)
  • Luxury Ball
    100 W ---> 1500 p (1:15)
Technical Records

Technical Records (TRs) will sell in Pokédollars for the exact same price they cost in Watts, so buying TRs from the Watt Trader is never as efficient as buying specialty pokéballs. However, if you have a lot of extra TRs from Max Raid Battles that you never plan to use, it could be worth it for the extra cash. Example:

  • TR19 (Tri Attack)
    2,000 W ---> 2000 p (1:1)
Brilliant Finds

In addition to buying from the Watt Trader, there is also a fisherwoman who moves around the Wild Area fishing up random treasure items, and selling her ‘brilliant finds’ to you for only 100 W. While these purchases cannot be done in bulk, be sure to buy from her every time you happen see her, as each brilliant find will have a higher conversion than any of the other options. Examples:

  • Brilliant Find (3 Pearls)
    100 W ---> 3000 p (1:30)
  • Brilliant Find (Big Pearl)
    100 W ---> 4000 p (1:40)
  • Brilliant Find (2 Big Pearls)
    100 W ---> 8000 p (1:80)
  • Brilliant Find (Pearl String)
    100 W ---> 10,000 p (1:100)
What Not to Do

You never want to invest in Wishing Pieces for the sake of selling them, as they cost 3,000 W, but only sell for 10 p.

  • Wishing Piece
    3,000 W ---> 10 p (300:1)
