And while Final Fantasy VII Remake is looking to be a groundbreaking one, it is a bit too early to be on this list. Consider it an honorable mention at the moment. With that out of the way, here are 10 of the best video game remakes!

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Fire Emblem has its share of remakes, starting with the third entry Mystery of the Emblem, Shadows of Valentia is without a doubt the best remake Fire Emblem has done to date. While its drawback is the not-so-great map designs, the visuals, music, and combat have improved significantly. The story even added additional characters to make the story improved and it certainly did not disappoint.

Resident Evil 2
Capcom has been doing great for Resident Evil remakes, and with the recent Resident Evil 2, it was quite a trip. Fan-favorite Leon Kennedy just looks so great in his HD debut, and Claire looks as gorgeous as ever. It definitely has increased in the terrifying meter, but that is a good thing for a beloved horror game series.

Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver
Pokémon has also had its fair share of remakes, but HeartGold and SoulSilver are the best remakes without question. Fans of the second generation games can unanimously agree that HeartGold and SoulSilver are just perfect.
