WWE 2K20: Showcase Mode Matches RevealedNeil GrayWed, 09/04/2019 - 12:31

When it came out that Roman Reigns was going to be joined on the cover of WWE 2K20 by none other than Becky Lynch, hopes were high that she and the Women's Revolution would feature predominantly in the game. It would be foolish of WWE not to ride that wave for as long and as far as they can. The fact is that Becky Lynch prints money.

Fortunately, you don't get to be a billion-dollar organization without knowing a cash-cow when you see one. The executives have decided to go all-in this time around by making the Showcase Mode all about Lynch and the other members of The Four Horsewomen.

WWE 2K20 Four Horsewomen

The Four Horsewomen Showcase

Since its inception, the Showcase Mode in 2K's games has been one of the brightest things going. In the past, we've been able to play through the career of Stone Cold and Daniel Bryan. Now we get to follow The Four Horsewomen and their rise through the ranks. It will all start with the first-ever NXT Takeover from 2014 where Charlotte took on Natalya in what would be the jump-off point for The Women's Revolution.

From here on you'll be able to play through 15 matches in total, taking control of Charlotte, Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Lynch, and reliving the most important moments of their careers. All of this culminates with the Wrestlemania 35 Main Event between Charlotte, Rousey, and Lynch for all the gold.

The full list of matches that you'll be able to play are as follows:

NXT TakeOver – Charlotte Flair w/ Ric Flair v. Natalya w/Bret Hart

NXT TakeOver: Rival – Sasha Banks v. Charlotte Flair v. Bayley v. Becky Lynch

NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn – Bayley v. Sasha Banks

Night of Champions 2015 – Charlotte Flair w/Paige & Becky Lynch v. Nikki Bella w/Brie Bella & Alicia Fox

WrestleMania 32 – Charlotte Flair w/Ric Flair v. Becky Lynch v. Sasha Banks

RAW – Sasha Banks v. Charlotte w/Dana Brooke

Backlash – Becky Lynch v. Alexa Bliss v. Carmella v. Naomi v. Natalya v. Nikki Bella

Hell in a Cell – Charlotte Flair v. Sasha Banks

Elimination Chamber – Becky Lynch v. Mickie James

RAW – Bayley v. Charlotte Flair

Fastlane – Sasha Banks v. Nia Jax

WrestleMania 33 – Bayley v. Charlotte Flair v. Nia Jax v. Sasha Banks

WrestleMania 34 – Charlotte Flair v. Asuka

Evolution – Becky Lynch v. Charlotte Flair

WrestleMania 35 – Becky Lynch v. Charlotte Flair v. Ronda Rousey

There are quite a few slobber-knockers in amongst this list and I, for one, can't wait to get my copy of WWE 2K20 and start laying down the law, Becky Lynch style. If you're worried that Roman is getting short-changed here then don't be because his career is in an exclusive Towers Mode.

WoW: Classic - The Best Tank Classes in the Game

Unlike the DPS options in WoW: Classic, the tank classes are slightly more limited in what they can do in the game. There's a handful who are going to make the best, obvious choices for the role because of how well they can take damage. While the options are limited, those who are willing to go down the route of the tank are going to be overwhelmingly needed. Every good party needs a reliable tank to take damage and lead the party forward. Here are some of the best classes in WoW: Classic for those who want to be a tank.

The Best Classes to Tank in WoW: Classic

Paladin - Protection

While not the first pick for those looking to go down the route of a tank, you're going to find this a reliable option. As a Paladin, you're able to wear some of the heavier armor in the game, and you can take several hits before you need to start healing yourself. The downside is you're not going to have too many entirely defensive cooldown abilities. You're going to rely mostly on healing yourself, and getting the party's enemies attention, keeping them off of the weaker members. Not many are going to want to choose you for the role of tank, but if you can convince and prove you have strong skills, you're always going to have a series of teammates to call on you to help out for a raid.

Warrior - Protection

By far, the best and most obvious option in all of WoW: Classic for the role of the tank. For those who are choosing to become a warrior, you're going to be a reliably powerful damage dealer, or you're going to soak up damage and remain standing for your party. You can do either, but you need to go down the Protection skill tree. By choosing this, you're going to find yourself a worthwhile member of the MMO's late-game team. You're always going to have someone who needs you, and whenever you're in the mood, you're going to a position in someone's party. The massive downside to going down this route is you're going to find the game incredibly dull as you grind up to level 60. It's going to take forever, too, so remember this if you're going to choose this option.

Druid - Feral Combat

A less obvious choice than the Warrior running the Protection build, but it's much like the Paladin choosing to go down a tank. You're going to remain standing for most of the fight, and it's going to be difficult to take you down. However, you're not the obvious pick, and you're going to struggle because you lack a handful of critical defense-based abilities that the Warrior comes within their kit. You're going to be able to control the numerous little minions who are running around, and you're going to have excellent threat generation thanks to several of your abilities. Again, like Paladin, you're going to struggle reliably keeping the defensive skills going. As long as you have an excellent healer watching your back, you should excel and keep your party alive.

Shaman - Enhancement

For those who are going to go down the route of choosing a Shaman tank, you need to know extremely few agree with it. A Shaman can take a bit of damage, but they're going to struggle on acquiring the threat of other minions. When they do have the threat, though, they're going to struggle in remaining alive, even with all of their abilities protecting them. The best healer in the world is going to muttering to themselves about your choice, and you're going to find yourself making life harder for the entire party. However, if this is how you'd like to play, go for it. It's important to know that the class is not the first, or even fifth, choice for anyone looking for a tank. If your man is a Shaman tank, you may want to rely on sticking with your custom party than looking for others to invite you.

How To Play Gears 5 Early

Gears 5 is almost upon us, with less than a full week away from officially releasing. However, some players might be a bit more eager to jump into the game than others — those who have the option to get into the game a full four-days before the initial release. While Gears 5 officially releases on Sept. 10, the developers are providing the possibility to get players in the game on Sept. 6, a weekend ahead of schedule. If that sounds appealing to you, here's how you go about getting into the game earlier.

How To Play Gears 5 Early

Pre-order The Ultimate Edition

One reliable option to get into the game four-days early is to pre-order the Gears 5 Ultimate Edition. You're going to get a heap of other bonuses, too, such as a 30-day boost for multiplayer, and various weapon skins. You do need to make sure you grab this early, though, because if you don't catch it before Sept. 5, you're likely not going to get in. You do need to make sure you acquire the game's digital version, though, as the physical version of the Ultimate edition does not come with access to the four-days.

You have two options available to you. There's the typical Ultimate Edition you can pick up from a variety of retailers, each with a unique weapon skin attached to their company. We have a full list of your pre-order options available to you on this article. However, if you want to show how big of a Gears of War fan you are, you can also go down the route of grabbing the game's Collector's Edition. You're going to get a lot more physical and in-game gear if you go this route, such as a flyable drone of Jack if you want it.

For anyone who grabs the Collector's Edition, you need to make sure you pick up the Ultimate Edition of the game. You can choose to grab the Collector Edition goodies but still go for the standard game option.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

The second option players have to get into Gears 5 earlier is to go for the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate edition. Unlike the Ultimate Edition for the Gears 5 game, the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is a subscription service to a library of different games available on the Xbox Game Pass. This option is a step above the standard game pass, granting players access to the Xbox Game Pass from their desktop and their Xbox One. It's exceptionally cheap right now, too, giving players the option to buy-in for $2, rather than the traditional $14.99 a month.

If you're interested in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate edition only for the chance to play Gears 5 early, make sure you turn off the subscription service when you're finished. You'll have access to the store for the month you paid for, but you want to make sure you don't forget about it, keep paying for it, and never use the service.

YouTube fined $170 million for collecting children's dataAdelaide WeissWed, 09/04/2019 - 14:10

Google, the owner of YouTube, paid $170 million in a settlement for children’s privacy violations.

The streaming giant, YouTube, fell under heavy investigation over the summer. Thanks to watchdog groups, the Federal Trade Commission launched an investigation into the Google owned company for privacy violations regarding children. For months after, YouTube discussed changes to their website as a result. The end of the investigations came as a settlement for a hefty $170 million, paid to the FTC, as reported by BBC News. On the same day, YouTube announced changes to their policy.

Parental watchdog organizations raised concern over the content and data collection practices. Content wise, parents often found young children watching inappropriate, even when they started watching a video that was entirely innocent. YouTube’s autoplay feature was under fire for this. Relying on data collection and suggestions, autoplay will automatically start a new video after the end of the previous one. The content can go from harmless to mature after only a few videos. YouTube recommends videos it thinks the viewer will like based on watching history, so the severity of the content can vary.

Earlier, content creators came under fire for their language in their videos. YouTube changed their policies, demonetizing creators with swearing in the first portion of their videos. Many big name YouTubers, such as PewDiePie, Jacksepticeye, Markiplier, and Game Grumps, felt this blow and went to great lengths to censor their language with some more child friendly alternatives.

Data wise, YouTube was found to collect data from children under 13 without parental consent. Ads targeted at younger audiences would run during children’s content in the middle of videos, which is a violation of the 1998 Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. YouTube paid $170 million in a settlement for the violation.

The payment wasn’t the only thing to come out of the investigations. For months, YouTube officials discussed changes to the website’s treatment of children’s content. YouTube finally unveiled their official changes on Twitter.

The changes hope to minimize children’s exposure to mature content. The chain of tweets summarized the four main changes coming to the website, with a more detailed blog post on the official YouTube blog. Those four changes are:

  1. YouTube will treat anyone watching children’s content as a child, regardless of the age.

  2. Personalized ads will no longer run on children’s content.

  3. Comments and notifications will be disabled on children’s content.

  4. Content creators must identify children’s content.

YouTube ended its Twitter announcement with a reminder that YouTube Kids exists and encourages parents to use that if they plan on letting their child watch alone.

YouTube elaborates on the details in its official blog announcement, emphasizing that parents are encouraged to use YouTube Kids, as well as adding that it is working with lawyers from the FTC to make sure children’s data and viewing experiences are safe.

The changes are set to roll out in four months.

How To Unlock Dave Bautista in Gears 5

Yesterday, it came out that WWE superstar and now Hollywood actor Dave Bautista is going to be a multiplayer character option in Gears 5. Fans of the franchise are likely going to understand why he's jumping into the game. For several years, he's been attempting to play as the game's main protagonist, Marcus Fenix, in a film adaption for the franchise. While that has not proven successful, the developers still want to get Bautista involved as much as possible. Here's how you go about unlocking Bautista in Gears 5 multiplayer.

How To Unlock Dave Bautista in Gears 5 Multiplayer

You won't be able to jump in as Bautista right out of the gate, though. You need to wait a few days for the game to come out and everyone to say how much fun they're having in it. On Sept. 15, anyone with a copy to Gears 5 is going to have the chance to unlock him. To do so, regardless of what version of the game you have, all you need to do is play the game, and he should unlock for you later on in the multiplayer mode. You're likely going to receive a notification about how he's now available, and how you can start customizing what gun he takes into battle or the armor he's wearing.

As of right now, we don't know if he's going to come out with any exclusive skins. The fact he's arriving in the game in the first place is fascinating. While he might not start with any skins, the developers might have some ideas of what they can do with Bautista's armor later on in additional patches.

While players are going to have the option to unlock Bautista on Sept. 15, they only have until Oct. 28 to acquire him. After that, we don't know if he's going to go away forever. He may become available in the game's official store, but he's likely not going to be free anymore.

Gears 5 Introduces Operations for Multiplayer Content

The developers behind Gears 5, The Coalition, are eager to keep fans on their toes by preparing a wide range of post-launch content for players to keep returning to their game. While everyone loves a good round of Horde mode, they're bringing something new to the table called Operations. Operations are going to continual change every three months, offering unique rewards, missions, focused objectives in specific game modes, weapons, and character options. Here's everything we know about the new post-launch content coming to Gears 5.

How Do Operations Change the Multiplayer in Gears 5?

New Maps

This mode is going to contain new maps for the additional game modes, such as Horde, Versus, and new tilesets for the Map builder. These options are going to be available for free, ensuring players in the game do not cut out of content from their friends. Additionally, the new Escape game mode is going to have weekly objectives and map changes, making this a reoccurring feature.

Characters

By participating in the Gears 5 Operation objectives, players are going to unlock new characters to play in the game. These characters are going to go beyond the standard skin, and introduce a variety of different abilities the character uses in Horde and Escape. They're going to change up the gameplay every time because these characters are going to vary what they bring to the table for a team in the respective multiplayer modes.

Leaderboards

Every good multiplayer experience comes with a leaderboard so players can compete against their friends and see how far up they can climb. The leaderboards are going to feature a competitive Ranking system with Bronze, Silver, and more levels. By breaking it up into different ranks, players can focus on those who match their playstyle, ensuring the hardcore fans are continually butting heads. This method makes it easier for casual players to keep up and interested in Gears 5's multiplayer.

Supply Drops

When players engage in and complete a multiplayer match of any variety, they're going to earn supply points. Players are going to grab these points to use them on supply drops, which are going to contain customization items you get to use. These customization options are going to include emblems, emotes, and more. We'll learn more about the available rewards in the future when the first Gears 5 Operation happens.

Tour of Duty

Every Operation is going to contain a tour of duty, tracking a player's progress during that Operation's three-month timeline. When players complete milestones during their Tour of Duty, they're going to gain access to free content they can use on their favorite characters. These rewards are going to consist of characters, skins, and likely weapon skins. There are going to be daily and weekly objectives available to earn more points during a Tour of Duty.

Monster Hunter World Releases Guardian Armor SetAdelaide WeissWed, 09/04/2019 - 15:55

Monster Hunter World unveils new armor set ahead of Iceborne release.

With the Iceborne DLC coming at the end of the week, Monster Hunter hyped up the release with a new armor set. Announced on Twitter with a brief video, the Guardian Armor set is available for free ahead just in time for the DLC.

The video describes the armor while showing it in action against multiple standard bosses in the game. The armor is designed for players that are either new or for new characters that need to level before they’re ready for Iceborne content. According to the video, the armor set has very high defense that players can level and use to get them quickly through the main game and will help them all the way to master rank.

If you’re wondering what that odd sound is, it’s the collective weeping of PC players. The Guardian Armor set is only available for PS4 and Xbox One players. It is currently unknown if it will come to PC along with Iceborne in Winter 2019.

The Guardian Armor set is available for free tonight, roughly 12 hours before the release of Iceborne on PS4 and Xbox One.

New Luigi's Mansion 3 Floors | Nintendo Direct September 2019Adelaide WeissWed, 09/04/2019 - 17:52

New Luigi’s Mansion 3 levels came out during today's Nintendo Direct.

The Nintendo Direct featured a quick look at Luigi’s Mansion 3 levels. Multiple levels popped up during the first few minutes of the stream. The game takes place in a haunted hotel, each floor containing a different theme. Players can expect a pyramid level, a disco floor level, and a pirate-themed restaurant level.

In addition to the floors, Luigi’s Mansion 3 will have a party mode called the Scream Park. Here up to eight players can play together on one Nintendo Switch. Players are broken into two teams of four to see who can bust the most ghosts. With the Poltergust G-00, players will compete to gain the most points for their team.

Like the previous installments in the Luigi’s Mansion series, players take control of Luigi as he tries to save his friends from King Boo. With help from Professor E. Gad and his latest Poltergust G-00 gadget, Luigi will ascend the floors of the haunted hotel to save his friends.

Luigi’s Mansion is set to release Oct. 31, 2019.

Pokemon Sword and Shield Is Going to have Camps Where You Can Visit With Your PokemonZack PalmWed, 09/04/2019 - 18:02

During today's Nintendo Switch, we learned more details regarding Pokemon Sword and Shield. A great new feature to show how open-world the game is going to be is the ability to create camps.

When you're in camp, you're going to get the opportunity to rest and relax with your Pokemon. While you're visiting with them, you can play, interact, and watch your Pokemon get to know each other.

When they're getting to know each other, they are going to grow stronger in combat. As of right now, we do not have exact details about what this means. It could be the Pokemon are going to get a buff in combat, or they're going to gain experience points faster.

While we don't know the additional features the camps are going to feature, we do if you set up a camp in the multiplayer section of the game you can hang out with other trainers. You can meet their Pokemon and even share a meal, making your Pokemon even stronger.

When you're cooking with other trainers, up to four of you can work together on the meals to make them even stronger. This method is going to make it better for the Pokemon in general, and it's an excellent way for the open-world aesthetic to shine.

Pokemon Sword and Sheild release on Nov. 15 for the Nintendo Switch. You still have time to pre-order the game, right now.

Little Town Hero is Coming to the Nintendo SwitchZack PalmWed, 09/04/2019 - 18:07

A new RPG from Game Freak is coming to the Nintendo Switch called Little Town Hero, and it's coming out on Oct. 16. You can pre-order game right now.

The RPG features an unknown town where you, the main protagonist, must protect the villagers from the numerous monsters. Players are going to engage in turn-based combat where they have to discover the correct attack and defense to the monsters they're fighting. Not every strategy works with the same one, so mixing up the attacks is going to matter.

The creative talent behind the game Undertale, Toby Fox, is tackling the game's soundtrack. Fans of the original game are going to enjoy the opportunity to venture into this brand new RPG.

We know little details about the game, other than the release date and you pre-order it right now. Game Freak did file for a trademark for the game earlier this year in August.

Except to hear more from the Game Freak team as they start to share additional details about the game in the future. With a release date of Oct. 16, they're bound to have plenty to say to get players hyped about this strategy game.

Super Kirby Clash Launches Today; Free To StartMisael DuranWed, 09/04/2019 - 18:10

In today's Nintendo's Direct, a new free-to-start Kirby game came out.

Called Super Kirby Clash, it is a multiplayer Kirby game where up to four different players can take control of a different color Kirby. Each player can pick their job and weapon set, and players can customize their own Kirby. Some of the available jobs in the game are Sword Hero, Hammer Lord, Beam Mage, and Doctor Healmore. The game can be played locally or through Nintendo Switch's Online.

You can strengthen your Kirby by crafting weapons, or going to the shop and get more weapons for yourself. You can also give your Kirby unique gear to wear when they go out for battle.

Super Kirby Clash is a successor to Team Kirby Clash Deluxe. The Kirby Clash series centers on more than one Kirby fighting against a series of boss fights. The series is essentially a boss rush game. Super Kirby Clash has Kirby, and his team pick quests in town. The bosses have a specific weakness, so it is best to prepare. Always try to bring a Kirby with a job/weapon that is the most effective towards the boss. The game is expected to have over a hundred quests.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is Getting a Second SeasonZack PalmWed, 09/04/2019 - 18:12

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans have even more to look to forward with the game as Nintendo confirms a second season for the competitive game.

During today's Nintendo Direct, the developers behind the latest Entry announced their newest DLC character. Beyond that, they're planning to release a brand new series of DLC characters in a second season for the hit game.

Originally, Nintendo developers planned to have a set amount of characters to come out. These characters included Joker, Banjo, and the newest character announced, Terry. Terry is set to release later this year in November.

Given the timeline of when the newest DLC character is set to release, we can expect the second season of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to come out in 2020. For now, we only know they're going to work on the game and are planning to continue development.

Nintendo seems eager to update this game for the next year, and do not have any clear plans for a sequel or a follow-up title. For now, they're content to include additional characters. Hopefully, we can expect to see more maps.

Support for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is going to continue into 2020, giving fans additional content throughout their journey in fighting with their friends.

Terry Bogart revealed as fourth Smash Ultimate fighter, Banjo Kazooie available to play TODAYSam O'HaraWed, 09/04/2019 - 18:17

SNK’s character Terry Bogard from legendary fighting game Fatal Fury will be entering the game as a fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The fighter, from one of SNK’s most significant franchises in the ’90s, Terry is one of the more notable characters from the franchise and is still a big part of the series now called King of Fighters series, which has seen new and updated games for over 15 years. Terry is going to be the fourth character in the first season of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s DLC fighters. A brawler fighting style is likely, similar to that in the King of Fighters games, Terry sports a sleeveless red jacket and baseball cap. It will be SNK’s first representation in the Smash series.

No release date has come out, but Nintendo is aiming for November.

Nintendo also confirmed that Banjo Kazooie is going to be released and available for players to use in the game following today’s Nintendo Direct. The legendary Rare characters initially revealed during Nintendo’s E3 Direct, has been one of the most anticipated characters in the series for years. Now players can finally get their hands on the characters in-game.

There will also be a video presentation with creator Sakurai after the Direct, where you’ll be able to see what the character can do. A video-on-demand version will likely be available later today.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore Is Coming To The Nintendo Switch On January 17, 2020Misael DuranWed, 09/04/2019 - 18:23

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE, the crossover game between Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei, is being ported to the Nintendo Switch.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE initially released on the Wii U in 2015. The game had some controversy due to its extreme anime aesthetic, and the fact that it appeared to be more of a crossover between Fire Emblem and Persona, rather than Shin Megami Tensei. However, the game still received positive reviews from gaming critics and has developed a fan following.

The game didn't do well financially, possibly because the Wii U was a very underperforming console. In today's Nintendo Direct, it came out that Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore, a port of the original game, is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore is an RPG game that borrows elements from Fire Emblem, and Atlus's Shin Megami Tensei franchise. In Sessions ♯FE, you star as a group of teens in Tokyo, Japan. You bond with beings from another universe called Mirages, who are all based on characters from the Fire Emblem franchise. The main characters can merge with their mirages to become Mirage Masters, giving the teens new outfits and extraordinary abilities. You can even summon Mirages during the middle of battle.

You work for a talent agency, and several members of the playable casts are part of the entertainment industry. The main characters include a superstar model and a wannabe action star.

Encore is expected to include a brand new song and original Fire Emblem Mirages that can appear on the battlefield.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore is slated to release on January 17, 2020.

Character customization is coming to Pokemon Sword and Shield | Nintendo Direct Adelaide WeissWed, 09/04/2019 - 18:26

Players will have the ability to customize their character in the new Pokémon Sword and Shield games.

September's Nintendo Direct was a flurry of information and activity. Happy to show off one of their flagship titles, Nintendo brought back a much-loved feature for the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield games: Character customization.

Pokémon X and Y were the first games to offer full customization options. These options included hairstyles, eye colors, makeup, and outfits. That was the last time such customization was allowed in the games. It slowly came back, but never to the full extent. In the Alola Region, players could change their clothes, but it was pretty limited in selection overall. After playing X and Y, it felt like a step backward. That's changing with Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Set in the Galar Region, players will have the option to change their clothes, hairstyles, eye colors, and even add some cosmetics. It sounds like what we had back in X and Y, but with some different features. As Nintendo stated in the live stream, it's more than just tops and bottoms. Players can change smaller accessories, such as gloves, along with makeup and color options for the character's eyes.

Pokémon Sword and Shield releases on Nov. 15 for the Nintendo Switch.

At the Direct, Nintendo revealed 20 SNES games will be coming to the Switch online on September 5. The first day SNES games are BRAWL BROTHERS, Breath of Fire, Demon's Crest, F-ZERO, Joe & Mac 2: Lost in Tropics, Kirby's Dream Course, Kirby's Dream Land, Pilotwings, Star Fox, Stunt Race FX, Super E.D.F. Earth Defense Force, Super Ghouls'n Ghosts, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Super Metroid, Super Puyo Puyo 2, Super Soccer, Super Tennis, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Not only is this an impressive line-up of SNES games, but it also includes games that have never been released outside the SNES. Stunt Race FX being on the Switch is the first time the game has ever been released outside the SNES.

The SNES games on the Nintendo Switch Online will also have a rewind function, meaning players can rewind while they are playing to an earlier part of the game. For example, if a player loses a life by touching an enemy, they can rewind before they hit the enemy, and prevent their death.

Nintendo is also offering wireless Super Nintendo Entertainment System Controllers that can work on the Nintendo Switch. No release date has been given for the controllers, but they will be exclusive towards paid Nintendo Switch Online members.

Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast Is Coming to the Nintendo Switch on September 24Zack PalmWed, 09/04/2019 - 18:29

Feel the power of the force with Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, and you can play it on the Nintendo Switch starting on Sept. 24.

The title announcement came out of nowhere, as there have been no hints to Nintendo getting the chance to work with Lucasarts, Disney, or even EA who remain the sole publisher for Star Wars titles. While the first game has not released to the Nintendo Switch, the arrival of the ever-popular Jedi Knight II is pretty grand.

The story takes place in a galaxy where the Rebels overthrew the Empire, but their stain remains on the universe. They still contain a strong foothold, and they're continuing to cause trouble. In Jedi Knight II, players assume the role of Kyle Katarn, one of the lone defenders of the Jedi Valley. He was once a Jedi. However, he turned his back on it and threw away his lightsaber.

While out on the outer rim, him and his partner, Jan, encounter remnants of the Empire attempting to gather additional strength. When trying to save slaves, Jan meets a dark Jedi known as Desann, who kills Jan, forcing Kyle to take back his lightsaber and become the Jedi he was only always meant to be.

You can pre-order the game right now from the Nintendo Store.

Two new Pokemon revealed for Pokemon Sword and Shield in Nintendo DirectAdelaide WeissWed, 09/04/2019 - 18:33

September's Nintendo Direct revealed two more new Pokémon for the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield games.

Nintendo Direct went all-in with the Pokémon content reveals. Two new Pokémon coming to the Galar Region's Poké Dex during the latest trailer. Nintendo posted Twitter pictures as the trailer aired, showing the new Pokémon in more detail.

First in Nintendo Direct's announcement, but second on the official trailer, is the aptly named Polteageist.

This delightfully punny Pokémon, Polteageist, is a Ghost-type and it's a bit of a pest in the Galar Region. According to the website, Polteageist can pour power into leftover tea and create more of itself. It has the ability Weak Armor and often let its trainer taste its tea.

The other, Cramorant, a Flying and Water-type Pokémon. It's a bit more unique than the adorable Polteageist but perhaps lacks the charm. Cramorant is a "voracious eater" and will even attack its trainer, should they steal its food. A unique ability from Cramorant is after using Dive or Surf it reappears with a fish in its mouth. Using its particular ability Gulp Missile, it then flings the fish at the next Pokémon who attacks it.

These Pokémon and more are coming to Pokémon Sword and Shield on Nov. 15 for the Nintendo Switch.

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition announced for Nintendo SwitchSam O'HaraWed, 09/04/2019 - 18:41

The end of Nintendo’s Direct today confirmed Xenoblade Chronicles is going to get remade for the Nintendo Switch, dubbed Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition.

Shown at the end of the today's Nintendo Direct, the game, which initially released on the Nintendo Wii in 2010, was a big critical success for Nintendo and veteran Japanese developers Monolith Soft. It sold better than expected for a JRPG in the west, enough to have a sequel confirmed for the Wii U and Switch. The trailer features Shulk, striding toward an army, displaying several improvements to graphics and animation over the original package, though no in-game gameplay footage came out to make a side-by-side comparison.

It’s been heavily requested by fans of the series for years after the sequel released in 2017. A JRPG can span over 100 hours with plenty of fantastic storytelling and characterization, beautiful, luscious terrain, and an excellent combat system. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition will surely delight fans of the game with another round.

No release date came up during the presentation for the title, but Nintendo confirmed that development is well underway. Fans can expect a release date for the game sometime in 2020.
